Pleasantly surprised with an older property

Cons: Rooms are dated, furniture is not very comfortable and shower drain plugged Pros: Beds are extremely comfortable, water pressure and volume in shower excellent, A/C works extremely well, maids do a remarkable job of making up room daily , the entire staff is very friendly and helpful , check in/check out very easy , location to beach perfect as well as easy access to transportation or walking. Special thanks to Jesus (Chewy) in restaurant along with Edwardo and Raul by pool /bar area. A Tale of two Places

This is a tale of two places. First off the grounds, pool, and bar/restaurant are outstanding. Great food and drinks at reasonable prices. Walk down a few steps and you are right on the beach. It couldn't be better. In fact even if you don't stay here, it should be your daytime go to beach bar hangout. Now about the room. Although we stayed here last year and everything was ok the room we had this time was run down and not very well maintained. Our room had black splotches on the wall which I hope wasn't mold. The toilet was broken and we had to manually operate it when we wanted to flush it. The worse part for me was that the air conditioner thermostat was locked on a certain temperature and fan speed and could not be changed. The room was actually too cold at night. To make matters worse the one and only elevator broke down that day and we had to climb four flights of stairs to get to our room. On the plus side I did sleep well in their beds. I would like to give Costa de Oro the benefit of the doubt and attribute some of their troubles to the Covid pandemic. We also booked a room on Saturday night which is their busiest day and maybe the room we had was the only one they had left. A better choice would be to book the one bedroom suite which is in a different section with it's own elevator. Those rooms are very nice and have a balcony and ocean view. My advice is to book your stay starting before Friday and you're likely to get a much better accommodation. This is a tale of two places. SO sorry to say this

The staff is so nice and friendly, they really try to make this a super place. The pool area is delightful, the activities people were most helpful. The room however was a different story. It was SO damp that there was condensation literally dripping from the ceiling. When we called housekeeping and maintenance, they mopped the floor and changed the settings on the A/C, but we wanted the room warmer. The only way there was no moisture was to run the A/C colder than we wanted, a crappy choice. There was mold on the walls it was so damp. It would have been a nice room. The bed was comfy, the layout was nice, the kitchen burners worked well. But the dampness and slick floor as a result made for an uncomfortable week. Anniversary

Great place to stay. Specially if you like to walk and eat out on local places. But if you want to venture into the Malecon or other touristic areas, just step outside the hotel and grab a Pulmonia. The local open taxi with loud music at your request. You can drink while riding them. Have them stop for a refill if needed. Plenty to eat and drink near by. The service and the food was excellent. They make an awesome ceviche tailandés that I wanted to try a second time. This was recommended to us by the restaurant manager Jose Ramon Nuñez who made sure we were taken care of as special guests. The food and drinks were great. The room was nice and clean. They arranged the rooms for our occasion with a bottle of wine and fresh fruits. The service lady was very attentive and helpful. I’m planning my next trip for February when el carnaval de Mazatlan is taking place. Great place to stay. Specially if you like to walk and eat out on local places. Not worth the all inclusive price!!

The room was average and acceptable and so was the overall hotel, but most of the staff did not make us feel welcome, especially the staff behind the counter for food, they were all miserable and making sure that we knew and felt that. The quality and variety of food is no were close to justifiable for the price increase of the all inclusive, we couldn’t even get bottles of water in our room, would I stay again? Only if i got a way better price and in no way pay for the all inclusive!!
