У нас был all inclusive.
2013. Travelled in Feb 2020 but Trip advisor doesn't go back that far?
This was our last trip before the covid lock down. We had a lovely room overlooking the beach. The food was great as were the wonderful staff. Hotel is typical for the Caribbean so I wouldn't judge it by American standards. It was comfortable for the two weeks. There was nightly entertainment and daily activities if you could tear yourself away from the powder sand beach. This was our last trip before the covid lock down. Jolly good!!
Great place... 2 boys and my wife and I had laid back 2 week stay. Staff fantastic. Food good. Beach is probably one of the best I've seen (and I have travelled 3 islands of Hawaii). HOWEVER... I would warn you not to book trips with local people on the beach!! Great place... 2 boys and my wife and I had laid back 2 week stay. Staff fantastic. Food good. 3 star experience
It was my first time in Antigua and I chose this island because of it's beauty and luxury. The overall feel of the island was sort of a mini Jamaica. Very friendly people and Caribbean culture. There are many luxurious resorts on the island but Jolly Beach is definitely 3 stars and not a luxurious experience. If you want to save some money and just want to visit the island then this resort will do. It is definitely an older resort, and you can see the wear-and-tear on the property. Also, be prepared for a long drive from the airport. I got very car sick, so do what you can to prepare for that in advance if you suffer from the same issue. The front desk staff took a very long time to find our reservation and in general were quite dismissive and a little too laid back for their job. The hotel only has wifi in public areas such as lobby and restaurants. I traveled in November 2019 with my boyfriend. We are in our mid-twenties. We got the supersaver room and it was still an expensive vacation. The room is tiny. The TV transmission was staticky. The view however, was gorgeous. The cleaning was done well, and I have very high standards in this area. The food was very good most of the time, especially breakfast (which is my favourite meal) but sometimes the meat was dry. There was plenty of alcohol as well. This resort is for an older crowd. The entertainment was poor, and for a performer such as myself, I did have higher expectations. There isn't a nightly show most nights, just a band, but they do have some contests which could be fun (we didn't attend). We did the daily water aerobics which were awesome but the calypso dance class was too simple and short. The beach movie night was definitely a highlight. It was a mesmerizing experience with mosquito fire torches and popcorn by the beach breeze. Unfortunately there wasn't enough of a party opportunity so we didn't really get crazy but would have wanted to at least one night. We went on an excursion which was truly a waste. It was Shelly Jay's island tour. We were just driven around all day, got very tired and car sick without much reward. It was cool to see the St.John's harbour, Devil's Bridge and a sugar plantation. Lunch overlooking Shirley Heights was definitely a highlight but it was too long of a day and too much driving to be worth it. The beach was alright. It is a very sharp drop in the beginning, so it is hard to get out of the water. A cruise of senior folk arrived on one of the days and they were seriously struggling with this. Some even got hurt. The water itself was okay but there were stormy days when it was not safe to enter. The beaches in Antigua are public and so you will be hassled by vendors. This is something that disturbed us and to a higher degree my boyfriend. The vendors just keep coming (and I get it, they are trying to make money) but it is awfully annoying on your vacation. On top of that, the vendors do not take it lightly when they are rejected and can even retaliate and be rude. In more luxurious resorts, the beach sections are more restricted which would improve the experience. There is a gym at the far end of the resort. It is decent, no other people were inside while we were working out. Only problem is that massages for the spa take place in the same building and you are told to stay quiet while in the gym. It can be a nuisance if you like music playing out loud to pump you up while you are working out. Caution: this was not my experience but what I heard from other travellers. Someone peeked into their room in the middle of the night. From other travellers, they did not have a shuttle from the airport to the hotel included in their package, so read carefully. It might cost you more than it should. Overall, it is a beautiful island, but I would recommend not cheaping out and going for a higher-end resort. Take excursions with a good activity so that no matter what you still have fun. I would try to visit other destinations but if I had the opportunity, I would come back and experience the island with a better understanding of how to enjoy it more next time. Old and sad
I stayed at this resort with family in March . The resort is a 1 or 2 star and I base that rating on the condition the resort is in now. Room: my room was on the second floor near the lobby. Water from taps ran brown, my room was rudimentary at the least. I found it clean but basic. Very basic. The bed was comfortable, and it had 2 balconies. I also had a view of the pool and ocean. This resort at one time was probably very nice, it has become run down and repairs are needed. The pool area had large chunks of cement missing. I had heard while staying here the resort was due to close. Food, most nights no selection and no choices. The Mexican restaurant did not always open. I would rate food 2 star. Not a lot of food or very much variety. Bar: they ran out of beer a couple of times, bar staff not too friendly. Some days no beer till afternoon. The beach, this is a nice beach but chairs are all taken by the people who sell trinkets on the beach. If you paid them everyday you got a chair maybe. We never got chairs near the water cause we refused to pay the chair mafia. Chairs in dire need of repair and falling apart. Resort property is a mess. It’s decay is evident all over . I was with family so we made the best of it. All in all , I wasn’t impressed with staff and their lack of attention to guests. The resort was laid back not much entertainment if that’s your thing. Solid 2 star. As I said bare minimum resort, no frills . Faye I stayed at this resort with family in March . The resort is a 1 or 2 star and I base that rating on the condition the resort is in now.
