Disappointing 50th Birthday
Upon arrival we had no idea where the front desk was to check in. Parking lot is a distance to building & there was a patchy field with a golf cart path. I approached someone who appeared to work there & he didn't speak English & I don't speak Spanish. Some other guests pointed me to front desk. We arrived 45 minutes after check in & our room wasn't ready. They gave us a different room with a lesser view and never explained that. We figured it out 2 days later. The room was spacious and has the potential to be amazing. EVERYTHING was damaged or old. Our refrigerator wouldn't stay shut. It was full of rust, scratches & dings. We got a replacement that was only an upgrade because the door shut. The dishwasher was not mounted & would fall out when open. The water heater was not working. These complaints were halfway remedied but definitely not corrected for a future guest. All the bathtubs were poorly painted & chipping. The process to get chairs & towels was a pain in the butt. I went to front desk for towels (which they had) & asked about beach chairs. I was told they have some set up & to just go to the beach, again another guest had to help me. This led to a phone call to someone who said I had to go to front desk to request chairs.........it was a unorganized mess to say the least. We are pretty easy going & mainly beach dwell with drinks & snacks on vacation. This resort has amazing potential because of location! It is in desperate need of an overhaul & management is lacking! Okay but….
Very friendly staff, okay location, room was okay….buttttt…room was right beside the office…no privacy at all. Tip to the the management, when you see customers coming from outside the country…maybe give them a better location, very awkward to sit out sit with the other guests walking by also. Beware... all problems and no resolutions...
A lot of promises and no return... The hotel does have a quick access to the beach and two pools for use. It is easy to access and the staff is pleasant. The bed was firm, but comfortable. The problems are many: The heated pool broke after first night. The whirlpools did not work at all. There are broken items everywhere (chairs, tiles, lights) The spa never returned calls prior to trip, when we were there, etc. Told they are never open, so don't believe it. Our room was never serviced, even after placing card and requesting at desk multiple times. The phone in the room was even disconnected and I had to search and find the cord hidden away. We never received new towels. We ran out and struggled to dry them. They finally gave us two pool towels after our third ask at desk. They had no other towels to give... strange in itself. Our patio door did not lock/shut and our safe did not work. These requests were never handled. Although we were scolded to keep our patio door closed (our room was massively musty) as it hurts the air conditioning in the entire building. The door and tiles in bathroom are broken and overall the place is "tired". They even put a round toilet seat on an oval toilet. The silverware and plates provided were dirty and the room had a heavy, musty smell.. thankfully the weather was great and we kept the patio door open as much as possible (guess the lock was not needed... lol) and hung towels outside to dry. (Got s older for this as well because it was unsightly) We called desk for toilet paper and kleenex. Never delivered and again had to visit desk to get it hours later. Would have used a towel to wipe, but they are in short supply and like gold! All the broken items and issues were met with, 'I saw a note on that' or 'it is on the list. Truth is, it is apparent no money or effort goes into the property and while staff is pleasant, they are not there to fix issues, clean rooms, etc. We tried to book the spa weeks prior to our visit (emails, phone, etc.) with no response and when we arrived, it was never open and no return calls. Booked at the Pearl, just south of Paradise, and got immediate access... probably a better hotel choice in general. The included breakfast? Oh, we'll the restaurant was never open for it. Supposed to be 8 am, but told 8:30 and then 9. We just went elsewhere. The restaurant never seemed available to serve, even closing on days they said they were opened and room service made our order wrong, did not have items as they were not made, and we had to walk back to get dressing for the salad which was bot available and had to be made. Paid a lot for a lot of inconvenience and a subpar accommodation. Stay if you just want a bed and a pool (note broken) and a beach access. Otherwise, find somewhere else. This is not paradise... unfortunately. I also noted that the responses to other complaints and reviews are just standardized. Sorry, we will forward issue, return soon. We have 2 days left... the vacation itself is our focus and thankfully there is a lot of good things on the island and mainland. On our last night, and the third day of management being asked for, but never available or caring to call, the office was CLOSED and our room keys deactivated, so we got locked out of our room and stranded until a staff member wandered in about 730am. They knew we were going to challenge our bill and they had billed it completely for our entire stay two days prior after we first complained. They are sending canned "we are sorry and forwarded this to management" responses to our reviews, but it has been five straight days where they are never available, off, here, but in meetings, and will call you back, but nothing. DO NOT BOOK HERE... DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY! We are now proceeding to legal action for resolution and updating our reviews as well. A lot of promises and no return... Over Charge!
They charged me for a snack and we did NOT consume any of snacks...NONE!!!! I called the hotel about 2 weeks ago to let the front desk person know and she said someone would get back to me since it was the weekend. That has not happed.
