Holiday club Sol Amadores

All round very good.

Check in and out was easy (you are required to show prove of vaccination) the apartment was big as was the balcony with got the sun all day, nice view down the valley to the sea. The pool was warm which was nice, would recommend this resort. Lovely hotel and great staff

Great apts but few improvements needed

We stayed here for 2 weeks & had a lovely holiday. Pros - Apt’s/balconies are spacious and clean Well equipped (oven wld have been good) Apts were quiet when we were there so many sun beds by the pool to pick from Pool bar - food was fabulous. The staff at pool bar were fantastic as well. BBQ in a Friday is worth a visit - great fun We had a few small issues in the apt - staff made sure they were dealt with quickly. Cons - No oven TV was rubbish! In this day and age should really have smart TV’s for Netflix etc. Reception closing at 8 - this was a nightmare when trying to get taxis to go out of an evening. So much so we probably wouldn’t come back for this reason. You can walk down into Amadores (which is beautiful) but the walk back is not for the faint hearted ! Excellent Apartment

Great apartment block on the high steep cliff, car needed. Very clean and friendly staff. Great pool and plenty of sunbeds. Pool bar had a great range of food, snacks, ice cream, smoothies, cocktails and Happy Hour. There is a long path down to the Amordes Beach and more restaurants.We had a hot tub on our balcony too. Don’t visit Holiday Club Resorts

Due to the pandemic we were relocated into the Sol Amadores hotel from an alternative Holiday Club property. We thought that the hotel chain would provide a like for like room as the advert and confirmation we received was that our original property booking had a hot tub. We reviewed the Sol Amadores web site and noted that most rooms had a Hot tub on the balcony. Seemed good until we arrived. We were placed in a room with no hot tub. When raising this with reception they advised that there were no hot tub rooms left, but if we went back on Monday and spoke to the manager they could check and change our room. The receptionist did agree with our booking confirmation in that it said there should be a hot tub. Monday arrived, but unfortunately the manager wasn’t there as promised. I spoke again to a different receptionist who agreed with me that the confirmation stated hot tub so she scanned it and sent it to their main office on the island. The individual point blank said that it was a mistake and that the other prop didn’t have hot tubs. She accepted that they had supplied the wording on the confirmation but as no one else had complained or ‘misinterpreted’ what was said she was not willing to change our rooms even though I offered to pay towards the upgrade so at least we would get the room we were expecting. Point blank refusal to discuss it, downright rude as well. Due to the lack of available accommodation available on the island we stayed for one week and then moved to another far nicer hotel along the coast (Anfi resort - know what customer service is all about, and a lovely place as well). Turning back to the Sol Amadores. It’s hard to have many positives for it partly due to our early experience. The rooms themselves were OK albeit a little tired in the decoration. It was reasonably comfortable and there was a view of the sea of sorts from the balcony. The ‘full’ kitchen does not include an oven but does have a microwave and hob, along with normally utensils and a dishwasher. The negatives unfortunately are quite long and I would likely place these as negatives even if I were happy to remain at the property. These are: - Situated on a steep hill (we knew this already and were prepared), there was a distinct need for a car, but the car park was wholly inadequate as the places were very narrow, and very few. We were advised that we could park on the waste ground at the bottom of the walkway from the hotel which we could not find access to (unless you used the pedestrian crossing where the pavement was lowered. The actual ground though was not secured in anyway (car park has CCTV). - Pool - small and closed at 18:30 every evening even in height of summer. Blaring music wasn’t made to help you relax. Pool and pool bar staff only wanted to flog the Friday BBQ event and couldn’t be bothered to say good morning/hello or be pleasant. - Pool Bar also closed at 18:30 and there is no other restaurant on site. They we’re no other restaurants close by so the car was essential. This may change once the pandemic is over but lots of businesses in the area were still close and many didn’t look like they would reopen again or at least any time soon. - security was questionable. There was, as far as I could tell, no one on site after 8pm until 10am the next day. There was on,y an emergency mobile number to call, so if you had any questions about anything they had to wait. There were gates at the bottom of the hotel, going to the walkway down towards the car park and then a fair walk down hill to the main area of Amadores. It would be a very hard walk back uphill, so again a car or taxi would be best. - bathroom. Shower didn’t drain quickly enough so flooded and was dangerously slippery. It was dark wood so felt dingy and unclean. Mentioned above the fact that we had confirmation of a hot tub, apparently the property we were in had in the unit a Whirlpool Bath and even with this being the case we were downgraded to a none to powerful shower only. - unfriendly staff. None of the staff we welcoming or helpful. I do think the resort which was allegedly full was really understaffed so they were under pressure to try and cope and as such this meant they didn’t consider the paying customer at all. As I have had such rudeness and unwillingness from the Holiday Club staff at their office I would suggest that any other property other that Holiday Club would be best to book as you will at least get some, I hope, customer service and acknowledgment that you are paying their wages.
