Thanksgiving week review

So I am going to write my review based on our visit thanksgiving week. The average temperature was high 30s/low 40s most days with sub 30s Friday-Sunday (we left Sunday Nov.28.2021) The positives. The resort was quiet this is what I would consider pre-winter crowd. Anything we had issues with our room was taken care of when we reported it quickly (same day/few hours from reporting it) so it does not impact your day that much waiting on resolution. The rooms were nice and felt like it fit the scenery and resort style. The negatives: The slopes were not open – pre-winter, however other resorts had theirs open. So if you wanted to go skiing you would need to go off property. Granted this is probably not every year I believe because it was warmer this year the snow was not holding so that is not a knock against the resort they did try. It does not look like housekeeping cleaned out room, we had food in the sinks when we checked in. We did take care of this because we checked in late – however I am confident that if I called for housekeeping to come they would have. On site dining was non-existent. The 2 main on site restaurants close for 6 weeks for winter cleaning this was a little disappointing, we had called ahead of time and we were under the impression at least 1 place would be open during our stay. Funzone 2.0. This is a cool place and you can burn off a few down time hours here with the kiddos. However there is no benefit to staying on property, we were staying with Wyndham and we had no benefit to being an owner on resort, everything was charged to us at retail rate. Laser tag, rock climbing, smuggs pass, there was no difference than if I walked in from another resort vs being an owner staying on property. Now I am sure if you came during winter you would have things that are open and the negatives would be mostly gone. If you don’t mind cooking in most nights, and want the low crowds then this is a good place to head to. Relaxing getaway

Perfect accommodations. Rooms tastefully decorated. Up to date appliances. Beautiful mountain views.. Several restaurants to choose fro. Many nearby attractions . Friendly small town feel. Great for those trying to escape from big city life. Little to no outside noise. By far our favorite vacation spot. Perfect accommodations. Rooms tastefully decorated. Up to date appliances. Snow times

Pack extra bedding as only basics are supplied and the beds are very firm, be wary of the sharp corners on the bed which will cut into you if you are not careful, the rooms are very spacious, however they are also old and dated. Thanksgiving Week

Another great Thanksgiving week at Smuggs. The Owls unit was well maintained and very comfortable to live in for the week. Not much from an activities standpoint but we did enjoy the FunZone and then spent time in Burkington and Stowe when we were not on site. Another great Thanksgiving week at Smuggs. Thanksgiving weekend getaway

Very nice 2-bedroom unit that suited our family of 5 (parents, grandparent and 2 kids) very nicely. Amazing view of the mountain. Great kitchen to prepare Thanksgiving dinner although the dishwasher was tricky. Ample free firewood to use in our fireplace was a nice touch. Heating was uneven, master bedroom was chilly and 2nd bedroom very warm even with fireplace just outside master. Hot water in the master shower was hit or miss. Kids enjoyed Fun Zone. Do not recommend using the stackable in-unit washer/dryer--very noisy and the vibration of the washer almost knocked the dryer over which could have caused damage or injury. Wyndham sales staff was pushy and condescending during our mandatory sales meeting. Would have given a 5-star rating if not for that.
