disappointed in a weird sort of way
I booked on VRBO.. everything was good until the day before arrival, when I got emails telling me that my 2 day stay was confirmed, then 1 day stay was confirmed. I panicked because my stay was for 3 days. After reaching out to the lodge, I found that they were going to split my stay between two different units. I was going to have to move all my stuff on the third day of my visit. I reached out to everyone and they all pointed the finger at each other. I still don't know how it happened. The first two days accommodations were okay, except the bedroom was up stairs, and the rest of the unit was downstairs.. I get that it was a loft, which is okay, but I came to Charleston to view the historic area, eat a bunch of food, and drink a few drinks.. which means at night, after a night on the town, if I had to go to the bathroom, I had to go down a pretty slanted set of steps, and back up them, all without stumbling... okay, but my wife had to do the same, and since I am responsible for her well being at all times, we chose to sleep on the pull out sofa, down stairs, with a perfectly good bed upstairs, un-used because of the steps and bathroom situation. But, on the third day, were moved into a gorgeous loft unit with a bathroom upstairs, and it was wonderful. So we got to spend around 8 hours in a wonderful unit out of a total of three days. I will say the staff and such were very helpful and friendly. Be prepared to pay a bunch for parking, which is common in Historic Charleston, valet is around $35 a day, public is around $20, but your car is not available as it would be with valet. Very disappointed and upset.
We have stayed three previous times at this location. It has been six years since our last visit. In all of our previous visits we enjoyed the resort. Unfortunately something has changed. There is no customer service or customer consideration at this facility. We are premier owners at Blue Green and with that supposedly rapid check in is part of the deal. Well it took at least 30 minutes just to check in. There was nothing premier about it. Also we were handed our key cards and not told where the room was located. Everyone vanished and we had to find it ourselves. We had made arrangements during our stay to check out 1 hour late. We were told no problem. The day of our check out we received two phone calls. One at 0930 and one at 1015 encouraging us to get checked out. Also 3 knocks on our door asking when we were leaving. These started at 0930 and several right after. We did have a do not disturb sign on the door. We don’t usually ask for anything except to be left alone on vacation. This one time since we had a later flight we Asked for a 1 hour later check out. We were harassed for almost 2 hours before we finally just left. We checked out 30 minutes late. The person working at the front desk that morning was the same person who approved our late check out request earlier! When I asked to speak with the manager I was told they weren’t in. I asked if they could contact me and i gave my cell to the other desk worker. No one has called and it’s been 2 days. We are simple hard working people who get a vacation together but it’s a sacrifice. We don’t expect a lot except to be treated with a little consideration and respect. We have been Blue Green owners for 12 years and like I mentioned before have enjoyed some trips to The Lodge Alley Inn in the past but this time they really dropped the ball! I am saddened by the all around lack of customer service and greatly encouraged you not to visit this location. Thanks. We have stayed three previous times at this location. Overbooked and canceled
Traveling with party of eleven. Only one room was canceled and the other non refundable. Half our party was forced to find another place to stay, after being confirmed for months. Book at your own risk!!! Condo was nice and clean. Poor owners and management. Traveling with party of eleven. Only one room was canceled and the other non refundable. Absolutely Wonderful!
This resort is gorgeous! We had a 2 bedroom that was as big as any apartment Ive ever seen. My daughter had a 1 bedroom loft and it was so cute! The staff was awesome, especially the Valet guys. They were so sweet! The Concierge was also very helpful! The only negative experience was when the Concierge took us to the review center desk to purchase Plantation tour tickets. The girl at the desk said it wasnt a good time (there was literally no one in there) and expressed her displeasure openly to the nice Concierge lady in front of us, which I thought was very unprofessional. Our owner review was great, no high pressure sales from Mr. Gomez which was appreciated. This is a lovely resort, walking distance to pretty much everything. This resort is gorgeous! Stay for wedding
I arrived a day late because of gas outages and my room was still ready. My studio room was 211 and it faces East Bay Street. Although noise was expected given the location it was not excessive. The staff was courteous and willing to assist me when needed. I did use the valet parking services and there was no damage to my car that I have found. I would stay here again and be sure to bring my spouse who was unable to make this trip. This is a timeshare facility and I am an owner.
