Clean but dated
Great location on lake but unit worn and dated. Upholstered chairs worn and very uncomfortable. Very steep stairs to bedrooms so care is needed when descending. Drawers to dressers open hard and some fell out. Fortunately, bed was comfortable even though it was placed against a wall with no headboard. Unit was clean. Great stay for family with 5 kids!
We have been to Breezy Shores several times over the last 10 years. I guess that is a good indication of how much we like it! We bring our own boat to do some fishing, which the kids love - catching northern pike and bluegills. We also love being able to use the pool/hot tub throughout the day when they get a little restless with whatever else we are doing. This year happened to be at the end of the Water Carnival - which included a 5k run and carnival which we were able to take part in. Additionally, we had a stop at Hub 41 for 1/2 price happy hour appetizers from 3 - 6 pm. Another evening we went to Bleachers Sports Bar & Grill just a mile south of Breezy Shores - had a very good burger and fries.. We also took a day trip up to Itasca State Park to check out the Headwaters of the Mississippi and then on to Bemidji to see Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox. The units are very well kept up - nothing fancy, but certainly meet all the requirements of what we need for our stay. Very handy to have a washer and dryer in the unit, so you don' t have to try to bring so many clothes or find a place to wash/dry. We had excellent weather while we were there - upper 80s and light winds. Kids will be looking forward to coming back again next summer! Enjoyable stay on Little Detroit Lake
We stayed in 602 - a two-bedroom unit on the lake. We enjoyed having our own private deck, charcoal grill and picnic table. As far as the inside accommodations, we found it to be spacious and easy to spread out in. There were just two of us (other family members could not come at the last minute) and so we had plenty of room. The master bedroom was big with a queen bed and walk-in closet. It was nice to be able to store the luggage, all our footwear, and hang up our clothes in the walk-in closet. We did not use the bedroom with the twin beds. There was a full bath across the hall upstairs. Our only complaint about the accommodations would be the noisy air conditioner located in the upstairs master. It took some getting used to, but fortunately, did not keep us awake at night. The kitchen had plenty of dishes and cookware. We put the full-size refrigerator and freezer to good use. We appreciated the added supplies - dish soap and laundry detergent for the washer and dryer. We also appreciated all the storage especially the added room underneath the steps. There we were able to put all our coolers and grilling supplies, extras, etc. We did check out the indoor pool one evening (nice and warm). We also rented bikes for an hour one evening for a nominal fee. Conveniently, there was a bike path just across the parking lot next door. We found the staff all to be very helpful and friendly. We rented a fishing boat from J and K Marine one day and would recommend them if you want to get out on the lake. We took a day trip to Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge and did some hiking there. Then, we drove on up to Lake Itasca (beginning of Mississippi River) which was also a treat and we'd recommend seeing it. We'd received recommendations to eat at Zorbaz. We did order a small pizza, Macho Nachos and two glasses of beer. It was a little pricey, but we enjoyed the local experience and the food was good. We'd recommend going to the Central Market to buy your groceries - nice selection and located uptown. While there at Detroit Lakes, we also checked out Washington Mall (don't go on Sunday as little is open), the Thrift Store sponsored by the Boys and Girls Club, and putt putt golf. We did a lot of running, but if you are looking for a relaxing vacation with a nice view, Breezy Shores should be considered! We were here June 4 - 11th. It was mostly in the 90's all week. A pleasant stay.
The room facing the lake was wonderful, spacious, clean and well furnished. We enjoyed the fire place since the cool, rainy weather gave us a chill. The ducks, geese and bunny outside our windows kept us entertained. It was a quiet, restful stay. The room facing the lake was wonderful, spacious, clean and well furnished. Get away
My family lives close by, so an opportunity to visit with family. Unit could use some updating, but it had everything we needed. Very busy road very close to property, noisy. Bed slept well. Staff friendly.l Lake right outside back door, beautiful view. My family lives close by, so an opportunity to visit with family. Unit could use some updating, but it had everything we needed.
