First time back since March 2020!!
It was great to be back at the Tesoro! We were greeted by Dennis and Luis the bellhops and were taken care of immediately. Very friendly and courteous service. Check-in was quick and easy and I would like to give a shout out to David/Daniel at the front desk as he is always friendly and helpful. Food was the same, there is always something to eat. The buffet is served to you by servers in the main dining as well as the snack buffet. We were at the beach during the day mostly and it was a nice surprise to see that Omar is still working at the Tesoro. He immediately greeted us and went out of his way to ensure we were taken care of. Hand sanitizer is available everywhere and all employees seem to follow Covid protocols very strictly. The chairs and palapas at the beach were mostly ruined by the hurricane and the resort has not replaced them as of yet. I hope they do replace them as it is a nice option to sit under a palapa on the beach. Shade is highly necessary. The email we received from the resort before we arrived stated our fridges would be stocked, however they were not stocked at all during our stay and it would have been nice to have bottled water in our rooms as the water is not drinkable at the resort. I hope this is something that will be changed when we come back in March. All in all this resort is like home to us and we were happy to see our favourite employees still here. Thank you Dennis for being so attentive to our needs, whether it was the air-conditioning in our room or even carrying my bags. Thank you Luis for being a great bell-hop! Great to see you again! Thank you Daniel or David at the front desk for being so helpful at all hours of the day. Thank you Omar for being such a friendly attentive waiter. It was great to be back at the Tesoro! Still wonderful
Finally able to travel and couldn’t wait to go back to Ixtapa. This was our 4th time at the Tesoro. As every time before we were met by Luis with a big smile and a “welcome home “. The hotel couldn’t pick a better person to welcome people to the hotel. He’s very kind and helpful. It was also great to see Dennis. He was a fantastic bartender but is an excellent addition to the bellboy team. He went above and beyond helping us out. He speaks very good English and helped us out with our lack of Spanish. I can see him going far in his new position. Omar is always a pleasure to see. Whether it’s in the buffet or by the pool he works very hard. We were at the Tesoro 15 days after hurricane Rick passed through. It was sad that the hotel lost most of the palapas on the beach. I hope that they will be replacing them as it’s hard to find shade if you want to sit on the beach. It seems that they have stopped stocking the fridges in the rooms. I was a bit disappointed with this. Especially that there’s no bottled water. I personally think that bottled water should be supplied every day in the room as we can’t drink the tap water. Hand sanitizer was plentiful throughout the hotel and it was constantly being cleaned. Everyone were very good with wearing masks. It was another great vacation. Already have our next one booked Finally able to travel and couldn’t wait to go back to Ixtapa. This was our 4th time at the Tesoro. We got what we came looking for
Husband had never been to Ixtapa and we took advantage of flights reopening from Los Angeles as well as of the reopening rate for the room. The hotel is not a new construction, like everything else in the destination, but it's a good building with spacious rooms and an airy restaurant. Very impressed with the safety and health protocols put in place. Service was always prompt and kind. We don't really care about having internet connections; we went there to enjoy the beach and the pool. While the hotel was at 30% capacity by federal law, I cannot imagine the pool when the hotel is at a 100%. Would be too crowded, but it was not our case. The security guards doing an outstanding job. Really really liked that you cannot bring any food or beverages into the pool area. Food was not bad but not good either. More like homemade, and definitely geared towards domestic tourism. We ate at the specialty restaurant only one night and had the buffet the rest of the time. The hotel is doing a great job with portion control which results in less waste. Also, loved the fact that they are using real china and silverware. We didn't attend any of the shows as time flew by while playing dominos with the family. Our last day we booked services at the Spa. The location is small and doesn't have any showers, but the service delivered were top notch. Hubby had the After Sun wrap and I had the Luva Therapy, marvelous use of hot stones. Because our stay was booked right after the opening, the federal mandate in Mexico is now that no more than 4 people can sit together, and that there is no food/beverage service at the beach. Not a big deal either, but beware if that is what you want to have. Not happening. All in all we had a great stay, rested, enjoyable and the only reason for which I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the food can definitely be improved, specially at dinner time. Second time!
So this was our second time here, March 2-19. Saw a few improvements as well as a few disappointing things. First off, Daniel at the front reception was fantastic! Friendly, knowledgeable and spoke great English. Dennis at the lobby bar is still my favourite as he remembered us and just is that bartender you see in the movies, friendly, speaks great English, remembers your favourite drink and can keep you entertained. Lizbeth our maid kept our room spotless and always had enough towels. Great job Lisbeth!! Omar, Rosalino, and Daniel at the pool bar...what can I say, you guys are all absolutely amazing! You work so hard and are always so friendly and give the best service! That being said, I agree with the previous review from oldbartho. There are some issues that need to be resolved at this resort. The privately owned condo/villas owners are creating problems that we also saw. And it not all the owners, its a few. Tesoro will have to decide which is more important, repeat hotel guests or villa/condo owners. One other issue is , the pool bar only opens at 11:30. We sat on the beach beside the Krystal Hotel guests and they would come from the bar with drinks at 10 AM. We had to wait until 11:30....? A few little things, the french fries at the Snack Bar were never fresh, not once in 17 days! No Guacamole at the snack bar ever, and rarely at the buffet. I would have thought this would be a staple menu item as we are in Mexico right! Buffet menu was pretty good and an improvement from last year, Buffets at night time not bad, but only had pasta show station twice. This was my favourite and wish this could be more often. No mint leaves to make mojito's at this resort for all you mojito lovers. No fresh french fries. No guacamole at the snack bar. Pool bar does not open until 11:30 Villa/Condo owners seem to run this place. Towels have numbers on them and it seems to be an issue when returning them as their system for keeping track needs to improve! All in all, 5/5 for service and cleanliness. Could improve some food items. Would I go back? Probably, I truly think the staff does their utmost with what they are given. Daniel at the front reception Dennis at the lobby bar Omar, Rosalio, Hector and Daniel at the pool bar (thank you for the ice every day Hector!) Lisbeth our maid Thank you! three weeks went so fast.
Dennis at the lobby bar was amazing and gave us super service. He speaks good english and is very friendly. Our maid Laura was great and made the cutest towel animals. The beach was simply amazing and stretches for 2 miles. The pool was always clean. The food I hate to say was not for tourist that are not Mexican, It would have been nice to have some north american food, we ate out a lot.
