Chilled and fabulous break
Chilled and fabulous - we had a brilliant two night break here in a mezzanine loft room and it was just perfect. Staff are all really helpful and chatty, plus don’t make you want for anything. The room was just fabulous, a great relaxing space with everything we needed with a great selection of complementary things. The fire is easy (much easier than the video) and a great end to a day of walking and chilling. The gym is full of usual kit plus battling ropes, trx and kettle bells and split between gym and studio space. The reading room is great and stuffed full of more complementary things but the surprise cocktail brought to the room was, again, a lovely touch. The Restaurant is ‘funkier’ than we expected and the pub up the road a proper pub with wholesome food and lovely staff. They are open about the covid challenges but you wouldn’t tell apart from limited opening hours but as they are open you just plan around it and we lost nothing from our experience because of it. We will be back - again and again I think. Chilled and fabulous - we had a brilliant two night break here in a mezzanine loft room and it was just perfect. Incredible Hotel
This is without a doubt the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at. My husband and I spent three nights in the duet suite for our honeymoon and although expensive, it definitely delivered the experience we wanted. The room definitely had the wow factor and you can tell the design has been cleverly planned out. The bed was absolutely ginormous and the bedding was comfortable too. The double bath tubs, mood lighting, quality robes/toiletries really add a touch of luxury. The balcony also offered nice views across the estate although it was too cold to enjoy for any length of time. The reading room is also amazing - so many great treats and complimentary drinks, my waistline is probably thankful we only stayed three nights. Parking is easy and situated under the building. The service was friendly but not over the top nor intrusive - just the right balance. My only gripe was with the on site restaurant, The Stove. We had dinner there one night and although the service was friendly, the food was a big let down and over priced. Part of our bill was refunded without much questioning due to a problem with the main course. Other diners around us were overheard complaining about the food too. Wainwright’s pub (based a few minutes walk away and also owned by the estate), had much better food for average pub prices. Will definitely be back for the experience of the hotel and spa, just won’t bother with The Stove Restaurant. This is without a doubt the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Autumn Fireside Suite Stay
This hotel is exactly what you need to unwind and get back to nature. The location is beautiful, a little site with trees, a small lake and cabins that fit right in. You have Langdale hotel as you drive in and then the Brimstone building a little away from that. These are different hotels with a slightly different experience. When staying at Brimestone, you get access to the spa included and it opens earlier and later for those guests. You could spend your entire stay in the spa in different types of steam rooms. In the inside outside pool or by the fire outside. We got a massage and it was absolutely spot on when I describes what I was looking for. The rooms are all beautiful, I would suggest going for the fireside suite as it has everything you’d want. A big cosy bed, a balcony, a bath where the water covers your knees and shoulders and of course a fire. If you’re wanting more space the mezzanine room is very impressive too. Each rooms have cute little light settings like ‘lazy’ and ‘perky’. You will find dressing gowns, kettle, a really good hair dryer, straighteners, sewing kit, nail file, ear buds. Tea and coffee facilities and often complimentary snacks and Prosecco. On top of this you can go to Brimstones communal space, the Reading room, where there is wine , beer, soft drinks and more snacks free of charge. If you fancied leaving the room there are plenty of beautiful walks (I wouldn’t follow the maps that Brimstone can provide, I would just google or potter around as it’s all scenic). There’s Ambleside and Grasmere within a short drive or a decent walk. The roads take a little getting used to!! Nearby you have Talbot Bar and Chesters by the River for food. The food on site is nice too but we like to get out and see what else there is. We also loved The Jumble Room and The Old Stamp House for special, pre-booked meals. If you’re a grump, you’ll find fault… there was too much hollandaise on my breakfast one day and the driver wasn’t working so we couldn’t catch a lift when we wanted. None of that impacted our stay! The people are all lovely and super helpful and I’m hoping to get back next year. This hotel is exactly what you need to unwind and get back to nature. Lovely place to spend a few days
Our 2nd visit here and we still love it Fantastic location and great hotel, as before no reception just ‘hosts’ which isn’t always as good as it sounds as no one was around to greet us on arrival and we spent 10-15mins tracking someone down( maybe they were having a bad day) I would prefer an area that was manned that we could go to but maybe that’s just me. This aside we love it here fantastic rooms ( we stayed once again in a loft suite which are great) The langdale setting is fantastic , spa and pool are lovely We ate at stove and wainwright’s, wainwrights ( pub food) was great, Stove was okay but nothing special and we will probably not visit it next time We ate breakfast in stove this time ( last time we had to have breakfast in the room and were disappointed as it was luke warm) much better in the restaurant and we would recommend this option if you want a full English Overall another nice stay ( despite the inclement weather) and we will definitely be back again next year Our 2nd visit here and we still love it Fantastic location and great hotel, as before no reception just ‘hosts’ which isn’t always as good as it sounds as no one was around to greet us on arrival and we spent 10-15mins tracking someone down( maybe they were having a bad day) I would prefer an area that was manned that we could go to but maybe that’s just me. Could be a little better
Could easily be 5 stars but this stay had a couple of draw backs. The spa was £75pp - too much in my eyes yes it includes lunch but if you’re on a late check in it’s not feasible, a couple of hours evening package would have been ideal. My breakfast coffee was served in a 2nd a hand mug - not sure how this happened but it wasn’t pleasant. The on-site restaurant has downtime where the bar was closed and a ‘honesty’ bar is in operation -£6.40 for a gin and tonic tin, not very honest with those prices. There was someone to greet you to tell you what was happening but why not have this person behind the bar? The bathroom could really have done with a shelf or worktop for a wash bag - a simple fix. The steam room was broken - completely understand these things happen but it would have been nice to know on arrival. Lastly we chose to go to the on-site pub wainwrights inn for the Sunday roast, we found upon arrival that they had sold out of roasts long before we even checked in - again this would have been nice to know. £16.50 for fish and chips also felt a bit over the top. That said the whole venue was very clean and all staff were very helpful, approachable and friendly. Further more the birthday card in the room was a nice touch Could easily be 5 stars but this stay had a couple of draw backs.
