Great View! Solitude! But Cottage Needs Updating.

We had a cottage that overlooked Lake Okoboji. The view of the lake was awesome and I enjoyed walking down to the boat docks and fishing. If you are looking to get away and have a little solitude, then October at this resort is a place to be. Be advised there is no internet service in the cottages. Although in October several of the amenities have been shutdown for the season. The staff were very friendly. The cottage was extremely clean, but needed some major updating as it was 20 to 30 years out of date. If you have difficulty walking, I would not recommend a cottage as the bedrooms are on the second floor and the stairs are quite narrow and steep. The upstairs shower was very cramped. I had to bend down to wash my hair (think boat shower). Some of the wooden stairs to the docks were also missing boards. So be careful, if traversing them. Boy do the rooms need updating!

We went after Labor day so not much open at the resort. That was OK as we are acouple of seniors and miniature golf was our speed. However the room was old and worn. The carpet was a mess,the bed was so hard we left early. The microwave was 600 watts (so had to be really old) the refrigerator worked but leaked on the floor. We did have a nice view of the lake. Bad enviironment

Would not stay again , needs a good cleaning. needs some upkeep performed, Appear they request the user to do the cleaning of the rooms , they just maybe check to see if it looks good!!! A Pleasant Trip

The resort was okay. The staff was courteous and helpful. We were given a room in the "hotel" area which was super convenient. The indoor pool and hot tub were just a short walk down the corridor and were a real treat at the end of the day. The resort was okay. The staff was courteous and helpful. Another Substandard RCI facility

Lake Okoboji area is wonderful place to visit and experience. The less time you stay at Village West resort, the better your trip will be. This resort has nice indoor pool facility, but very poor WiFi availability, and very dated and well used rooms. Not an experience we would want to share with family and guests!
