Great Location. Sweet Spot. Average Room w/Excellent Water Views
The Terrace Dunes is part of the Horizon Beach Resort complex. The Horizon Beach buildings sit directly at the edge of the beach and are newer. The older Terrace Dunes building sits across the street up on a hill. Even though it sits across the street, the Terrace Dunes offers plenty of excellent views of Cape Cod Bay and Provincetown across the bay from the balconies (You can see the water to the horizon over and between the buildings across the street. And the way it is situated, provides a wonderful view of the sun setting over P-Town.). There's plenty of free parking. The units are quite modest, with minimal amenities. Make sure you bring your own pool and beach towels, as well as salt & pepper, napkins, and wine glasses. Everything else is provided. The units have a full kitchen, with a ¾ refrigerator and a 4-burner stove and oven. There's also a drip coffee maker, but no starter/welcome kit. There's no pen and paper, or area welcome information. Do your own research. Each unit is configured individually, so some might have two Queens and a small sofa, or one Queen and a large sofabed. The room is largely carpeted, and it's clean. There's a HD TV and HD cable. That's nice. The pool is not heated, which means that along with the cool, 50 degree nights of October come pool water temperatures in the 50s as well. I tried going in and it only resorted in numbness. The bay water was less cold. I wish they would heat the pool just a little bit, but no. It's essentially useless in the Fall. All in all, North Truro feels like old Cape Cod. It's a relatively narrow strip of land, close to the water. You can smell and feel the water. None of the Provincetown timeshare properties are walkable to downtown anyway. You might as well stay in North Truro if you're going to use this as a timeshare exchange. It's about a 7 minute drive to downtown P-Town, and about a 20 minute bike. The resort does rent these units out on a nightly/weekly basis directly via the phone. Half of the units are owned by the resort manager. The others are owned by individual owners, who all own nine weeks at a time, and they rent their units out themselves. As they get more value from renting a Summer week they don't want to use, you'll likely only find Fall weeks available for an RCI exchange. It's a sweet spot. Not the resort you remember
This resort used to be sorta dirty and low class but charming. The owner is mean and unhelpful. I can no longer recommend staying here. Expect a very old, dirty, smelly experience. This resort is definitely a one star or less. This resort used to be sorta dirty and low class but charming. The owner is mean and unhelpful. I can no longer recommend staying here. Wknd getaway
My partner and I visited Horizons in Truro for July 4th wknd 2021. We had stayed there a couple of years before and thought it was very nice for the price and location (across from a small beach). We decided to stay again. This time was not as nice as we remembered. The room was like a cheap motel room with a very musty smell, very outdated furniture. Stains on the linen and couch. Large Crack in glass table, sink was not thoroughly clean. I ended up cleaning the faucets myself. When I brought this to the manager’s attention, he was very rude, told me he has no other rooms and told me how much he hates this wknd! He came over to the room with air freshener. We pointed out the couple things to him and he was not happy, seemed frustrated with us as if we inconvenienced him. After a brief conversation, He then walked out with a reluctant “sorry” and slammed the door. What a very unpleasant experience, his attitude was extremely poor, especially since I was pleasant the entire time with him. This was not good customer service by any means! I usually never write reviews unless a place was awesome! But his treatment towards us and behavior was unacceptable and unnecessary. Whales ahoy
Fortunate to be at horizons beach resort just a few miles from Provincetown. Perfect location right on beach. Did 2 dolphin fleet trips. Momma echo and calf humpback, dolphin, seals, fin whales on first trip. About 5 groups of humpbacks (total 40-50) dolphin 2nd trip. Great art studios, restaurants and shops in Provincetown. Very very inviting community! Fortunate to be at horizons beach resort just a few miles from Provincetown. Perfect location right on beach. Did 2 dolphin fleet trips.
