Smelly room

I booked this resort as had stayed before and had been good but have to say this time was a disappointment. When I rang to book staff were helpful but as only booking for one night the staff member said there was an extra charge of forty dollars to our room. We wanted to get in earlier as had a function to go to so we could leave our bags which staff said we could do which was great but when we picked up keys and got to our room we were hit with a shocking smell that was like something had died in there and as we had no time to advise them and didn’t get back till late we put up with it and told them the next day which staff said they would follow up on ! As yet I haven’t heard , very dissatisfied I booked this resort as had stayed before and had been good but have to say this time was a disappointment. A bush surprise

Why would Australians go to a bushland retreat? To have kangaroos graze on their front lawn of course! That doesn't happen in inner suburbia so it was a wonderful surprise. The quiet - apart from the birds - and the comfortable accommodation were bonuses! Why would Australians go to a bushland retreat? To have kangaroos graze on their front lawn of course! Loved the position this time of the unit

Total lack of care in regard to loss of booking

Alas our government has enforced a snap lockdown due covid virus, which we understand. This has occurred 12 hours before our check in so I rang Kyneton Bushland Resort to advise we could not arrive due lockdown which the women answering understood and she would make a note that we could not arrive. I wished to change booking by 14 days but to my shock, I was advised that no not their problem take the matter up with the booking company (RCI) and see what could be done knowing full well this would require us to make a call to the US and try and explain about covid lockdown to see what could be done. I advised this would be very hard and probably useless but my problem fell on deaf ears. The person I was speaking to showed no care at all and seemed very practiced at just getting rid of me asap because she knew there was little I could do. Maybe seeing there are a lot of people hurting due covid lockdowns and all concerned are loosing money that Kyneton Bushland Retreat could do better than have a phone representative who was both flippant and quite arrogant. They loose nothing at all just cross us off the list and thats it. We loose our payment and our weeks resort exchange and Kyneton Bushland Resort lost nothing accept my respectI, I have written this review because I thought I had to as I have travelled extensively but very rarely treat so poorly. What a great surprise

Exploring Regional Victoria during COVID has been great fun and this place is a GEM. We booked a two bedroom villa that was clean practical and had everything we needed for comfort and location. All villas are very private. Kyneton has so much to offer the visitor a great range of food places and dining experiences, good walks for all levels, wineries nearby and the bushland retreat has so much to offer families with children. Great all year swimming venue, lakeside walk, canoes, adventure playgrounds, squat tennis BBQ facilities ect. We did not have children with us but witnessed many family groups enjoying the location.
