Great location but older property with problems

At first we were so unhappy with this resort that we almost went home in the first 2 days. I have never paid so much for an RCI week, nor have I stayed at a resort with so few amenities in the unit and so old/run down. By the 2nd night we were positive we had rodents raiding our food during the night so they moved us to another unit. The staff was very helpful and made it all ok in the end. We are unsure if we would ever return because there were an equal number of pros and cons. Pros: LOCATION- very close to Heavenly Village with a lot to do there (restaurants, shops, gondola, ice skating, movie theater, etc.), also close to hiking trails, grocery store, Lake Tahoe, and casinos. The lobby is very inviting with large fireplace and game room with a lot to do (pool table, foosball, basketball game, Xbox, and darts. The pools were heated in the winter and the grounds were well kept, including several fire pits and a hammock and cornhole games. Dog friendly (even for RCI guests!). Fitness room had the essentials. Complimentary activities daily like wine reception and smores. Friendly and helpful staff. Complimentary hot breakfast daily. Cons: no washer/dryer in the unit, no dishwasher, some units are not in good shape (our first unit master bath door didn't close and was falling apart in places), TV didn't work at first but they got it fixed for us, beds were uncomfortable, grills on property are for a $25 fee! Some units have a different layout where the kitchen table is against a wall in the living room, which we didn't like but our 2nd unit had a separate area for a round table (much better). Kitchen was not well equipped and only had the basics. I was able to request a few additional things from housekeeping but had to buy some things at a local store (measuring cups, rubber spatula, potato peeler, etc.). No fireplace in unit despite some photos showing rooms with a fireplace. Hot tub was not always hot. Expected to find board games, puzzles, and movie rentals like most resorts but didn't have that. No sauna or tennis courts. Hefty daily resort fee on top of a dog fee, in addition to what you pay RCI for the week. I think the unit you get makes a big difference. Not What You'd Expect

This resort is too expensive for what you get. Location is terrific, but run down in many areas, especially elevator (sounds like it will break down any time going up or down, size too small to fit luggage racks in), bottom floor and parking areas. Room itself was good size and comfortable, didn't have a dishwasher, one of our TVs didn't work (service called and took about an hour to fix), both TV's had volume trouble (too low to hear at highest setting). This resort is too expensive for what you get. Great location C- Accommodation. Very dated facility. Well worn, especially the elevator. NO DISHWASHER IN THE ROOM. Attempted to stay upgraded, but still feels like the 70s in hallways and decor. Breakfast was good. Added resort fee that hadn’t been disclosed. Dishes and pots were all wrapped in plastic. Covered parking Great location C- Accommodation. Very dated facility. Rising from the ashes

We spent three wonderful nights at Forest Suites Resort. Following the recent fires in the area and the chaos of the pandemic, it was a refreshing getaway in South Lake Tahoe. Kudos to the staff for making our stay comfortable and relaxing. These are professionals who know how to serve others and project positivity. We spent three wonderful nights at Forest Suites Resort. Quiet, clean, centrally-located

We had a 2-bedroom place in the corner. It was quiet and comfortable. The kitchen was well-equipped. I swam in the pool early in the morning and had it to myself. Our bathroom was a full bath and our friend had only a shower. There was no beach access included which was a disappointment. We were able to walk to the store, restaurants, bars and the movie theater. There were numerous mountain bike trails just outside our door. Parking was easy to find and the breakfast was good. There were gluten-free options for me at breakfast as well. I would stay there again. We had a 2-bedroom place in the corner. It was quiet and comfortable. The kitchen was well-equipped.
