Lengthy time for repairs and no face maskings by staff
the unit itself is fine when in good repair - it's odd that if you sit on the patio, your view of the pool is blocked by the wall, but if you're standing, it's a nice view of the pool. The hours for the gym and pool are inconvenient - my best day was the one when I started at the gym shortly after 8, then jumped in the pool - the sun helped to warm the water which I believe is heated to the low 70s - it's brisk if the sun isn't there to help. My worst day was when I was denied access to the gym - so didn't get in the pool - because, despite the signage, I was too early - around 0630. They don't tell you at check in that the laundry facilities are complimentary - and located on the 2nd and 3rd floor The business center has a single, timed computer and paper was parsed out as if there was a paper shortage going on - every trip back to the front desk meant less time to get my work done. The bed is comfortable - if you stay in the middle where the imprints of former guests haven't broken the mattress down. The bathroom is convenient - has the sink outside the WC and tub/shower area - so you can have space for multiple people getting ready in the morning (using the "kitchen" sink) Having the cable stations was nice - they're not all the same in the gym (they must not be paying for the premium channels in there somehow - doesn't make sense to me) - but I watched old tv shows as a little comfort fare. I asked, when I arrived late Sunday night, about things to do in Tucson and was given a rather dismissive reply. I didn't have reason to go into the business center until the last day (when my efforts to work out were rebuffed) but found the typical travel brochures in there - too bad I didn't have access to them earlier. The Christmas decorations are really pretty in the lobby. We never did use the pool table, foos ball, or table tennis. the unit itself is fine when in good repair - it's odd that if you sit on the patio, your view of the pool is blocked by the wall, but if you're standing, it's a nice view of the pool. Front Desk, David! This place is great! Esp. David! Great service!!--Mike L.
Great studio, and David got us in early and provided extra service...he deserves a raise! Love this place, come almost every year!! I think it's centrally located for most access to many shops, stores, parks. --Mike L. Great studio, and David got us in early and provided extra service...he deserves a raise! Nice hotel
This is a new looking hotel with a friendly staff. The two rooms we booked were large and had a separate bedroom and living room. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms were clean. The hotel has a pool table, ping pong table, and shuffleboard which we enjoyed. We did not use the pool since it was cold at night but it looks nice. The only issue we had was that our room faced onto Speedway and there is a fair amount of traffic noise. Ask for a room facing the pool. This is a new looking hotel with a friendly staff. Very clean units, pool is awesome and refreshing.
Speedway is a busy street, but hotel pool, hot tub and grilling area is secluded. Just 1 mile from Reid Park and the Reid Park zoo. Close to stores, restaurants and University of Arizona. Units are extremely clean as is the pool. Also has small fitness center that has excellent equipment. Speedway is a busy street, but hotel pool, hot tub and grilling area is secluded. Very nice people and super clean
We booked this hotel in a hurry after our initial hotel booking proved to be a nightmare. We had 2 people working different phones for different dates through 2 different 3rd-party services (Priceline and Booking.com) and accidentally double-booked prepaid reservations. Varsity Clubs was extremely accommodating and not only cancelled the extra booking, but gave a full refund even though it was prepaid. David Cotter was AMAZING in getting it done. As for the room--we got a HUGE 2BR suite for 5 people, with 2 baths and a full kitchen. Everything was super clean and very well equipped. Laundry was FREE. There were tons of entertainment options on the property, including good books, pool table, putting green, checkers/chess, board games, cards, video library, swimming pool with extra pool towels...everything you could want, all included in the room price. The property was well kept, super clean and smelled amazing. It's not fancy but it's very serviceable and for the price (which you MUST book through a third party to get a good rate, booking through the management is triple the price or more!) it cannot be beat. The only issue was that for a 5-day stay we should have requested housekeeping after 3 days, and fresh towels. Or at least emptying of wastebaskets. That was our error--they do not clean rooms during your stay except on request. Overall a great stay, nice central location (Speedway and Alvernon are major arteries) and an excellent deal.
