Banish those COVID woes!
Firstly congrats to Antigua VC Bird airport well organised and speedily processed with COVID vaccination passes. We were returning guests to PBC Yes, there were differences but PBC still offers fantastic relaxation & largely did not disappoint, yes, there were a few niggles at first , but the management team were swift to overcome my complaints. The pandemic has hit everywhere and hospitality has suffered more than most. The hotels lost many good staff who looked for different careers, offering more stability and they are recovering from these losses. I have seen guests reviews regarding the food, some disparaging and I would suggest rather then taking to social media, they should have spoken to guest services. Topaz is a buffet restaurant which caters well for a large number of guests, sometimes they get it wrong. Our thanks to Joanne, who must be one of the islands finest breakfast egg cooks. The food served at the Pineapple Grill, has improved and there is no limit to the number of visits a guest can make on their all inclusive package , the only surcharges are for Lobster and specialist steaks. We also enjoyed a private dinner in the gazebo, where the food was exquisite. Shout out to Sophie in the bar for her hard work at keeping the drinks flowing. The entertainment team headed by Anne Marie worked so hard at keeping people amused, and congrats to all the staff at the street party on Wednesday nights, a huge effort by all. Thank you Pineapple Beach, for a truly relaxing stay. Thank you Antigua for your warmth and generosity of spirit, a truly memorable holiday after COVID lockdowns, which was most welcome ❤️ Firstly congrats to Antigua VC Bird airport well organised and speedily processed with COVID vaccination passes. The perfect way to hit the pause button
I was a bit hesitant to stay after reading some of the 2021 reviews. Follow my lead just ignore them and get your covid test and get on the plane. Antigua is calling you.... The beach is the best part of the resort. It is beautiful. The sand is like confectionary sugar. The perfect place to relax and swim or just hang out on a float. Drinks- plentiful and they go down so well. You have a drink you want they will make it! The rooms are very clean. Given the pandemic rooms are only serviced every other day but the front desk is very responsive if you need clean towels. The staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive. They all diligently wore their masks. A special shout out to Shawn who has such energy and makes sure everyone is having fun. While there the Biden administration changed the covid test rules to return to the US. The hotel staff was on this and arranged the covid test on the correct day. Upon checkin the front desk will ask you to fill out a form which they use to arrange the test. The one area to improve is the front desk should leave messages at the room about timing so the guest does not need to go back to reception to find out when the test has been scheduled for. The food is truly the one area that I would suggest the hotel improve the quality of. It is fine just not GREAT! I will say the Outpost and Italian were good. For those staying at the Pineapple remember it is a pandemic so things might take a little longer or they may not have certain items ( while there the hotel ran out of cream cheese, cherries and syrup for drinks). Even though items were not available I still had a great time and highly recommend one spending time at Pineapple. Such a welcoming change to my work from home. Also one of the best tans I have had in my life. I was a bit hesitant to stay after reading some of the 2021 reviews. Follow my lead just ignore them and get your covid test and get on the plane. Great holiday
Just had a 12 day stay at Pineapple Beach Club.Myself and my partner came away feeling that overall this was a great holiday and place to stay. Firstly I would like to praise all the staff,we didn’t have a issue with anyone and found them all to be very friendly and helpful. The hotel grounds are well kept, the beach is lovely.Any seaweed is quickly removed early in the morning, there wasn’t a lot most days. The entertainment team worked hard and were fun to either watch or take part with. We found the food to be very good everywhere apart from two of the evenings in the Topaz restaurant where I can only describe it as average/poor.We spoke to a couple of other guests who had stayed here over the years and they said it wasn’t as good in Topaz as before, both with choice and quality. The breakfasts was good ,plenty of choice and well cooked. The service in Topaz was a little disjointed with getting served your choice of food. There was one lady on the egg station( who was great ) but then there was usually just one person serving everything else.Sometimes there were 3 queues, one for toast, one for the items of food on one side of the counter and another for the food on the other side of the counter(it was a U shaped counter with the server in the middle). This led to a little wait sometimes,it would better to have 2 people serving. The snack bar did nice pizzas, burgers etc. The outhouse was a great place for lunch, a little 3-4 minute walk uphill but it’s worth it. We got greeted with 2 beers straight away,a nice selection of salad and barbecue items to pick from too. We had an ocean view room which I have to say was really dated and needed upgrading. However it had great views of the bay and it was spacious and had everything you needed, kettle coffee maker , iron safe etc so no real problem. We did the hotels guided walk to devils bridge. It leaves early to avoid the sun.it takes about 30 minutes to do steady walk each way, still back in time for breaky. It’s worth a visit especially if it’s a bit windy like the day we went, bigger waves! There isn’t anything else around the hotel, nearest shop 2 miles. We hired a car from the hotel for 2 days,it cost about $50 day plus insurance plus $22 Antigua license.Definitely worth seeing other parts of the island.I also did couple days scuba diving with mamora bay divers located at there sister hotel st James club.Had some great dives, good visibility, lots to see including sharks ,turtles , rays, lobsters. They arrange taxi for pick up/drop off, and charge $10. 2 dives in the morning and back at hotel for about 1pm. Thanks to everyone at Pineapple Beach, the gripes I’ve mentioned are only minor. We loved our stay and will probably be back sometime in the future Just had a 12 day stay at Pineapple Beach Club.Myself and my partner came away feeling that overall this was a great holiday and place to stay. The Best 4 Star You will every find!
My wife and I travelled to the Pineapple in November of 2021. I wish we were still there, what a great resort and relaxing Island. The reason we didn't say 5 star was two very little things. First our beachfront room was clean, great view, and well sized. It is not one of the newly renovated so it was not immaculate. It was clean, nothing was broke, and they kept it clean. But for a 5 star it would have been newer. We were next to some of the much newer garden rooms and they looked much nicer, but we wanted the beach view. The second issue was again small. Bars are convenient and the staff very nice. Drinks are local and good but plan on good beer and good drinks, just not high end again. The beach and free (you should tip) sailing! The beaches are clean and not crowded at all. Didn't spend much time (none) at the pools but they looked very nice. One member of our party sailed the Hobbie catamaran's every day. It was very nice and relaxing. The Outhouse was great food, a little different every day. Some of us did like a lot of BBQ sauce and you just had to ask. The only alcohol at the Outhouse was Bank's Beer. Not our favorite, heavier malted beer. Caribe is good but you had to bring it with you. Devil's Bridge, again a very beautiful location and close to the resort. You can get a ride there or make it part of a tour. We read how it was close and could walk there. You sure can walk there, but it is a humid climate and it is a solid half hour walk one way in high heat. Glad we did it but it was the most we would want. We cut through the Verandah on the way back and that is a nice resort too. Much quieter and not as nice of beach, in fact almost none. Topaz is a nice restaurant. Breakfast had choices for everyone. We only ate dinner their once because Chef Pietro's (Italian) and Pineapple Grill (variety) are amazing! Choice for anyone and well cooked and prepared. Service is excellent too. Be aware Pineapple Grill appears to be a little more popular and books up. The snack bar is a great lunch and late night snack. Burgers, fries, wings, nachos, and tacos. All are good. A little strange that the service is just surround the bar and hope they come to you. It would take 10 minutes to put up a sign that says order hear and pick up, but instead they take the free for all approach. Never an issue for us because we are on vacation but some people like more structure and you could tell it stressed some people. We just kept grabbing beverages while we waited. Antigua...what an island! None like we have ever visited. We definitely felt safer here than any other destination. On or off resort. We took two tours, one on a catamaran ride all day and another by taxi. We booked with Marvelous Marvin who is right down at the beach. He is great but understand he is not with the resort. They allow him there but if you walk over to the main reservation area you can get the same tours right through the resort. The taxi tour was something else. Nice vehicle but small, winding roads. It is different but we saw a lot. We requested a lunch like a local. He took us to a roadside "shack" and the food was awesome. Chicken, goat curry, and oxtail. We loved it all. I could keep writing but I think it covers our experience. It is our goal to go everywhere we can and we don't often go to the same place again. But the Pineapple feels like a place we may go again. Beautiful beach !
We spent a week at Pineapple Beach Club and I give it 5 stars for cleanliness. We had a waterfront room which was well worth the up-charge. The location was perfect. We were close to the restaurant, beach and pool. The entire resort was well maintained and very beautiful. The evening entertainment was fun and the drinks were strong! We did not think the food was great. It was average. We love water sports and most of those were on the other side other island. It isn't fair to the other side but a bit expensive to get there. That was our only complaint. We went sailing out of Jolly Harbor and the RT transportation was $120 We spent a week at Pineapple Beach Club and I give it 5 stars for cleanliness.
