Total Lies hidden in a nice resort
So...we went to a time share presentation at the Vallarta Gardens and after many hours we decided to purchase a 1 bedroom unit. There were many promises made during the presentation and they made us feel that as owners we had preference over others trying to rent the property. For an example , we were given two free weeks by time share rep Michael Gil in a studio with the option to upgrade to a 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom by paying the difference in the cost. We were also promised that if we booked more than 60 days in advance they have to guarantee our room so we tried to book an upgrade to a 2 bedroom and were told that nothing was available and tough luck basically. They did come back with an offer of a 1 bedroom upgrade which would have done us no good as we wanted to bring our adult children for my wifes 65th birthday. I then went on three websites, Tripadvisor, Expedia and another i think called Centra and the 2 bedroom was available through all three of them so i felt like i just wasted the large amount of money that we spent to "BECOME OWNERS" Now they did say they had availability in April and May and i asked to please email me back with dates so we could decide if we can wait til then but I have now been trying to get them to call me back with the offer that initially gave us to book the upgrade to the 1 bedroom unit for two weeks and then book a studio for two weeks for the kids through trivago or tripadvisor but they will not email or call me back. Still waiting for a response but time is running out So...we went to a time share presentation at the Vallarta Gardens and after many hours we decided to purchase a 1 bedroom unit. Lovely resort currently being expanded
We visited here during Spring Break with our 12 year old granddaughter. We ALL enjoyed it. The suite was gorgeous and very spacious. The grounds were beautifully landscaped and there were some fabulous local trees that were real specimens! The food was good. The staff were very friendly. We all want to go back! All the Broken Promises!!
We paid for an all-inclusive 5 night stay at Vallarta Gardens and experienced broken promises at every step! First, our stay was from 1/23-1/28, so the new COVID rules required us to get a COVID test coming back to the U.S. from Mexico. I called Vallarta Gardens and asked if they had any plans to provide the test for their guests. I stated that I saw only hospitals in PV providing the test for $200 US dollars per person, and we didn’t want to add $400 to our vacation cost. Giselle told me they would call me back and let me know since their mgmt was discussing what they planned to set up for their guests. Two days later, she called me back and said Vallarta Gardens would provide testing for their guests on site at the resort, and we wouldn’t have to pay for it. I asked for an email confirmation. She sent it, and the email stated the test would be on site with all details confirmed “as we discussed on the phone”. We got to the resort, and the first thing they told us was that we needed to work with their concierge to set up an apptmt at a nearby hospital to get the $200/person test done. We objected, forwarded them the email, but they refused to pay for the test. If they had originally simply said they had no plans in place to provide testing, I would have understood, and we would have postponed our trip. But I made it clear over the phone we didn’t want to pay for the test; Giselle made it completely clear they would pay, and we would not pay anything. Promise broken! Even when a second person representing the resort said (while we were there), “yes we’ll pay it,” didn’t mean a thing. Promise broken! The resort itself? Nice location on the beach with a single restaurant, so limited menu, but very good food, and the serving staff was excellent! Note: Tipping is absolutely expected for everything. The negatives: They closed everything down by 7-9pm. Pool closed at 8; restaurant closed by 9; pool bar closed at 7. So no drinking at night, only during the day...?! Oh, the gym was closed, the lounge was closed and the only other pool & bar was closed. The Hot tub was…COLD. The room was fairly nice, but a few significant issues, especially in the bathroom. The shampoo and conditioner were in 32oz glass bottles, and the pump didn’t work in one, meaning picking up a heavy slippery glass bottle in the shower...what could go wrong, right??!! The hanging glass globe light was about 6.5’ high placed directly above the bathroom sink where you stand to get ready. I hit it at least 4 times while getting ready in the morning or for bed. Lucky it didn’t break. And what’s with putting menthol in the bar soap? Using that in the shower was not a good experience when feeling like I rubbed a cough drop all over my body...’nuff said! Oh, and they apparently expect you to go to a nearby town to buy coffee since they provide the coffee-maker in the room, but no coffee. Our last night, we asked the waiter if we could get a lunch to-go when we left the next day. He said definitely, but when we went the next day to the restaurant to request it, they asked us to confirm with the concierge...who said we would have to pay since we would officially check out by noon, and they wouldn’t formally start serving lunch until noon (the waiter understood all of this when we asked him). Nothing verbal is good enough; anything in writing not spelling out every single detail will not suffice either. Be forewarned, they will make you pay for every single thing they can, even though it’s “all inclusive”. And they will not honor any word given verbally. Period. The final sendoff was the taxi back to the airport, which they originally said was included, (but we found out they changed their minds) and once we got to the airport, the driver told us we had to pay for the ride. In fact, he said the concierge specifically stated we needed to pay for the taxi. Quite simply, it was a fitting ending to the string of Vallarta broken promises! Perfect spot to restore one’s soul.
I recently spent 2.5 weeks at Vallarta Gardens. I stayed in a one room suite in the Hamptons building. The location is perfect, the staff is wonderful, and the grounds of the property are lush, and well maintained. I was looking for a quiet location to de-stress and I found exactly what I needed. The food was fantastic...I never had a meal I didn’t thoroughly enjoy. The owner was a true gentlemen, and helped me set up a private fishing charter, which was a bucket list item. I spent 12 hours with an outstanding captain and crew. The music playing poolside is all selected by the owner and is a lineup of great 70s era bands (Chicago, etc.) and jazz (Michael Franks, etc.). I look forward to returning in the spring for further rejuvenation. I recently spent 2.5 weeks at Vallarta Gardens. I stayed in a one room suite in the Hamptons building.
