Condos were dated, but very nice, clean and worth the money. Ruidoso is very nice and well managed.

This property has been around for decades. The property could definitely use updating, however, the employees were wonderful and helpful, the condo unit was spacious and clean, the view was fantastic especially the sunset views, and High Sierra was perfectly located for further day trips. The first day we stopped at the local Walmart and purchased food for the week. Saved a lot of money that way. We went to K-Bobs Steakhouse for Veteran's Day and I was treated to a free entree and drink. (Thank you K-Bob's for supporting the military and vets) The town of Ruidoso was very nice with plenty of shopping and food in the area. As for the condo beds, I prefer a pillowtop and softer mattress. This one was very firm and uncomfortable for me. I ended up sleeping in one of the twin beds in the second bedroom that had a softer mattress. We were assigned a second floor condo unit, which I did prefer, however the steps leading to the unit (1202) were in need of repair. Overall, High Sierra was well worth the money and I would definitely stay again. Nearby, we were able to take great photos of herds of deer, turkeys, elk, and two different wild horse herds that roam around the area. If you're up to it, drive up to Monjeau Lookout, close to the condos. It is over 9,000 ft on 5.5 miles of increasingly difficult road, but the view is well worth it. I drove up it in a Toyota Camry. Wouldn't recommend that type of vehicle, though. One of the wild horse herds I got photos of were about half way up to the lookout. On a side note, we did take a trip to Roswell. I was very disappointed, and would never stay there. This property has been around for decades. Ignore the negative Nelly’s!!

This place is WONDERFUL. Everything from start to finish has been great. I’m horrible with names, but the young lady who checked us in was so welcoming and kind. She provided a lot of information about the property and the area. We originally booked for one night, but as soon as we opened the door, we decided we wanted an extra night. The front office was great with providing us with the info we needed to book an extra night and even went beyond to ensure we could stay in our original unit. The views are spectacular. This unit is not to be compared with staying in a condo on 5th Ave in NYC. But it is PERFECT for what we came to do. It is CLEAN and updated. I was very nervous because some of the reviews mention non-working amenities, poor sleeping conditions, dirty units etc. I don’t know WHAT those travelers were talking about, because our unit contained EVERYTHING, down to laundry detergent for guest use! We used the pool and it is like 85 degrees warm. So nice with the cold weather starting. There is a gym with a Bowflex and a treadmill. Not a lot, but ENOUGH. As I type this, I’m sitting in the HUGE leather chair in the living room, watching Real Housewives on the smart tv, while a Dura-log burns in the fireplace. We will ABSOLUTELY be back to High Sierra. High Altitude Tranquility

The last two miles to the resort is on an uphill road with many curves and tight turns, but once you arrive, the view alone is worth the drive. From the back of most unit balconies you can see the Inn of The Mountain Gods across the Valley. The lake and surrounding mountains are beautiful and peaceful. The two bedroom units are quite spacious and have a large fireplace. People with disabilities or bad knees may have a very difficult time getting to the upper units. Fall getaway

Enjoyed our stay here very much. Is older but had everything we needed saw many deer and view of mescarello lake from condo balcony was awesome!! Plenty to do in town. Will be back. Family reunion - Great time at High Sierra Condominiums

We all had a wonderful time during our stay at High Sierra. The facilities and accommodations were excellent. The staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable of things to do and see in the local area. The scenic views and wildlife were fantastic. Looking forward to our next visit there!
