Lifeguards Jump into Action
I witnessed a young boy run to the pool and slip and take a bad spill into the water. Immediately lifeguards Maria and Sophia jumped into action, getting the boy secured and out of the water. Another person with medical training also responded almost immediately and evaluated the boy. The speed and professionalism was impressive to observe and I commend these employees for their training and cool heads. Home away from home
Usually, I would have rated Fiesta Americana 10, but it is the only hotel I have stayed in Cozumel without a beach. I had plans to return in January again with our whole family, but we will wait until we know the beach is open for service of the hotel. We will be staying at another hotel for the first time since 2014. Now, the greatest asset that Fiesta Americana is their staff; from the second we arrive, the team makes us feel at home. At the welcome desk, Angelica can recognize us from a mile away and is always there if we anything during our stay. Aaron is the hardest worker at FA. I would say since 2016; we have not needed to order when Aaron is working because he knows our family preferences; he knows what we love to eat, drink and what time we want them. Aaron is a magician. Arturo is another person who makes sure that he will manage to get anything we need for the family. Ruben, the breakfast captain, is always available to help and has also helped with some special dinner requests. The lifeguard Jesus and Adrian always keep an eye on all of us while we swim. They have also taught me how to swim in open water. Now, if you are an athlete, you need to get in touch with Wendy. She is not only a great athlete but can guide and connect you with anything regarding sports in Cozumel. She has also cheered for in the last two Ironman Cozumel races. If you need to do some stretching, yoga the activities ladies are so extraordinary. The Spa crew will get you relaxed or recovered after a massage session. The lady in the breakfast grill is the reason I wake up happy every morning during my stay. These are only a few members of the magnificent staff of Fiesta Americana. The whole team is fantastic, full of love, and make sure your stay is the best you had. A nearly perfect vacation experience
We had a wonderful time at Fiesta Americana Cozumel. The resort was clean, the food ranged from average to very good, and the staff was exceptionally friendly. The entertainment team (Armando & co) had a wide array of activities planned for the kids (and grownups), including crafts, pool games, and even trick-or-treating. Ruben, the head waiter, was great to work with when we coordinated a private dinner for our party - despite some hiccups from the kitchen staff. Doña Vicki's breakfast quesadillas were delightful, and Jaunito at the bar and Samuel around the pool were friendly and accommodating. Henry, the lifeguard, was great at patching up the little ones for any scrapes obtained as they swam - which brings me to my biggest complaint - the pool itself needs some work. It is missing tiles in several places, and the exposed gaps result in some sharp edges, where multiple people in our party, including the kids, were cut / scraped various times throughout the week. Our only other significant complaint was that the beach area is still closed down (as mentioned in other reviews). Having that area open would improve the experience by a significant margin, but what was open was still great. Special shoutout to Darwin - he really went above and beyond to help make our experience special. I highly recommend his services to anyone who wants their stay to be extra-special. Book elsewhere
We just finished a week stay. This hotel is in serious need of maintenance. Our rooms bathroom sink drain pipe burst and soaked our luggage that we had stored underneath. We spoke w others who had to be moved to other rooms because their doors would not work. Our patio doors had lost their seal and we always wet and foggy. The pool is missing many tiles and everyday kids would find more that had broken loose. The general state of the hotel is bad. The beachfront area, which is the major attraction, is closed for construction and no one will tell you when they plan to reopen so you are stuck sitting around the pool..kind of like being at a Howard Johnsons. Do not waste extra points or money getting a room w a private pool, we did. It is frigid water and again broken and missing tiles. The place is just worn down. On the flip side, the food is good, staff are great, spa was great. Entertainment was pretty good, they had nightly dance shows and daytime games around the pool. Their COVID precautions are fantastic. Shout out to Wilbert the Rosato waiter, Arturo, Johann super guys. Maria is adorable at the pool trying to entertain everyone so they are distracted from the shoddy pool condition. Go to one of the Cancun Fiesta Americanas We just finished a week stay. Amazing Staff
This was our second visit to Fiesta Americana in Cozumel. Our first visit was in 2019 and we couldn’t wait to get back. After booking with CheapCaribbean, I learned that the beach facilities were closed. It was very disappointing as we had spent a great deal of time in this area on our last visit. We decided to travel anyway and make the best of the situation. I can say that the best part of our stay was the lovely staff. They are all amazing. Especially Miguel at breakfast, our check in with Rubi and check out with Tami. Covid procedures are followed extremely well and I felt very comfortable and safe. The food is still really tasty with a large selection and beautifully presented. However, the hotel was extremely full and the pool area very crowded. We couldn’t find anywhere to sit on our second day. Towels were placed on chairs early morning and we had to book for dinner every day. We booked early but they always only had very early times or rather late time. The music was so loud all the time, that we couldn’t hear each other speak. Even at breakfast the music was blasting from loudspeakers. We just couldn’t get away from the continuous noise and shrill announcements from morning to late at night. There are only two lifts and one of them appears to be the service lift so waiting for one to arrive takes ages. There was also a disconcerting smell at the back of the hotel which reached us as we walked to our rooms. The shows were very entertaining. They seemed to only have one every second night and most started at 9pm. I think things will improve when the beach area opens because at least guests will be able to get away from the deafening noise at the pool area and there will be more room for people to sit. Of course Cozumel is beautiful and the view from our room spectacular. This was our second visit to Fiesta Americana in Cozumel. Our first visit was in 2019 and we couldn’t wait to get back.
