Good resort for Summer in the Alps

Unfortunately the weather did not help us but there are plenty of things to do in this place anyway. The food in the area is very good and also our out-of-season mushroom search was successful. The rooms are spacious and the view from the balcony is spectacular, when the sun shines.The staff are very friendly and eager to advise the tourists on all possible activities in the area. Great welcome & skiing

Warm welcome & very friendly staff taking care of us throughout our stay. They do speak better French than English but had enough to get by in English. Access to ski storage right outside door of appartment as were the ski slopes and lots of snow during our stay. Access to Swiss ski stations via Porte de Soleil ski lift connections and 1 return ski lift from French side in case of a wrong turn. Special neck scarves with built in filters to be changed daily are mandatory on the ski lifts due to Covid. Can be bought in sports equipent shop on site. As it was a quiet week for skiers (1st week Feb 2021) we had the on site restaurant mostly to ourselves and were very well looked after. Reglular navette bus to take you down the mountain to bigger towns, train station, etc. or to other ski stations in case ski lift stopped due to wind. Local police visited Champousin each day to ensure health rules were being applied. Most restaurants offering take away even on the slopes. Beautiful view of the Dents de Midi mountain from the appartment. Well equipped kitchen & luxury of 2 bathrooms (bath with shower in both). Were here many years ago in the summer & profited from mountain biking & trekking at the time. A real Heidi world in summer for those old enough to remember Heidi. If you are visiting the region rather than just staying put, remember you have to go down the mountain to get out and back up to come back. Great location!

Ski-in, Ski -out location, nicely equipped apartments and very accommodating staff - Ernest is a great guy and we will come back again! Not many things to do around Champoussin (small village with 2-3 restaurants) but the view of the Alps and the ski resort right at your doorstep are highly valued. Terrible stay in Switzerland Vacation with RCI

What an disappointing experience with absolutely poor customer service. We stayed for a week as a family in holiday in Dec 2019 in three apartments. The first appartment E2 had a broken bath tub handle, toilet cracked/leaking and best of all you have to recycle but no facility bags to assist us with the recycling only one bag received the Monday. Apartment E7 basin had no tap so we couldn't wash our own dishes had to wait for the holiday to finish until someone assisted us. Office was open only on our arrival the Saturday and Sunday as we were sight seeing in France and Switzerland we only arrived back at the lodge in the evenings office closed. We were informed that we can use the facilities of the resort like sauna whirlpool baths and hot water swimming pool. None of the above were available as it's part of Champoussin Lodge which opened a week later. We expected to stay in a proper lodge as it's in Switzerland but this Lodge is a disgrace to such a beautiful country. Will never stay at the resort again. Last time renovated was about 20 years ago. Not so Royal

We visited Royal Alpage Club in late summer thus I cant comment on skiing. The drive alone to the resort from ValdIllez is insane. It takes about 20min from Valdillez until you reach Champoussin. If you have no problem with hairpin bends, drivers racing at 120km/h up and and down the narrow pass than you just might do it for the view. The views are epic! The accommodation is awful!! This establishment must have seen its hayday 20 years ago. Everything is old and doesn't really function anymore. The fridge, shower, oven etc etc. You will pay for everything extra (WIFI, Gym Facility and Pool - which is by the way at the lodge next door, washing machine etc etc) We stayed here with our 2 kids and I really would not recommend this establishment for families. Its not comfortable and overpriced. The closest shop we could find that did not cost a fortune was a COOP in Champerey (right next to the skilift). If it was just me and my husband and my objective was to come here and mountainbike, hike or just enjoy the scenery and eat out for our main meals and just have dinner and breakfast at the Lodge than this Lodge would good enough.
