So disappointed
We’ve heard over and over again how great Dreams is so we wanted to try it out. We’ve stayed in many different all inclusive resorts, and we thought maybe we should pay a little more to see what the fuss is. We were especially happy to “step up” this trip because we’re celebrating my birthday and our engagement. We even made sure we booked the preferred club. I honestly can’t begin to say how disappointed we are here. 3 days in, and I have a laundry list of things that are just not what we are used to experiencing. First night we had some drinks, and I kept looking for the premium liquor everyone told me about. That really isn’t a thing. We went to the preferred club lounge, and I was completely unimpressed with those “upgraded” options as well. The food is definitely just ok. I truly expected much better than we’re getting here. Also, if you want fun activities you won’t find them here. Very little happening. On our second full day we were already bored so we walked down the beach and found a fun little restaurant. We had the best drinks there (not watered down like at our resort). We then decided to go into Puerto Vallarta. We Finally started having fun there. The town is awesome, and the people are incredibly nice. We spent the whole day there having food and drinks. Found a great little bar and met the greatest people from all over the world. Oh, and we were also told there wouldn’t be any high pressure sales tactics at Dreams. That’s not true, either. Like most resorts they wants us to go on their “90” minute presentation. The first person we spoke to offered us a pretty good package to check it out. We said no, but we talked to a couple later that day that went to one and said it wasn’t bad, although it was actually two and a half hours (which is always the case). They liked what they had to offer though, and they were considering joining. We decided maybe we should look into it, so I went down the next morning to sign up. The next person I spoke with wouldn’t offer anything close to the first offer so I just walked away. Now, I can’t walk past him without being harassed. Overall, we just wish we would have stayed at a resort in town. We could have saved money and had more fun. Unfortunately, we have 3 more days here. Lesson, learned though. Below standard for a UVC resort
The setting of the resort is fantastic. Our room was good with a magnificent view. Some of the restaurants were below standard and the menus were limited. Service in some of the restaurants was slow and the food not always hot. The setting of the resort is fantastic. Our room was good with a magnificent view. Outstanding Service.
Our family just spent a week at this resort had excellent service from all of the servers bringing drinks tobus at the beach, pools and restaurants. Specifically, Carlos, Joel and Meila (sp?). These three were personable, interacted with our children well and anticipated our needs. All in all they contributed to the experience we enjoyed at the resort and they deserve commendation. Dreams was disappointing!
Having stayed at sprawling resorts like the Riu Palace, Hyatt etc. and especially since this was our first vacation in 2 years, thanks to Covid-19, we felt very disappointed by Dreams, which we had high hopes for! We paid quite a bit for this resort and we feel very cheated! Pros: 1.The specialty restaurants have high quality food, equivalent to a fine dining place. 2. The wait staff at the restaurants were very attentive. Cons: 1. The buffet has very limited choices, mostly all Mexican food with the menu barely changing from one day to the next. Many times salad, fruit etc. sat out looking very sad, making it seem like they were out there for hours! 2. There was one one towel station for all the swimming pools, also the whole time we were there towels felt like a rare commodity. The standard answer was that there were no towels because they were being laundered! 3. There was no entertainment for older kids. Activities and entertainment for adults was very limited, compared to other all-inclusives we've stayed at. This forced us to seek options outside the resort because we were bored, hence defeating the purpose of an all-inclusive resort. Thankfully we made the trip with three other families who are super fun, else we would have been very bored! 4. The drinks were very watered down. 5. The 24X7 bakery was a small place which would allow only 4 people at a time and had very limited choices. 6. The sushi place had limited choices and was more of an "appetizer" place. You could not re-order the same food. We had to go to another restaurant after, since we were all still hungry. Also, the sushi was so-so. 7. It looked like the place was very short-staffed - from another review it looks like the resort had offered huge discounts to locals to fill up their rooms, which explains why it seemed like us Americans were such a minority there. The least the resort could have done was to add more staff, to accommodate the extra people. 8. At the time we booked the trip, we were not told that the resort shared grounds with other condos.
