Great Location with a Streetcar Stop across the street.
Small pool but great seating area and the Sky Roof is very cool for night time viewing. Cannot walk to Canal Street. Plenty of transportation. Suite was very clean with a kitchenette. One of the best hotels in NOLA for extended stay. Valet parking. Small pool but great seating area and the Sky Roof is very cool for night time viewing. Cannot walk to Canal Street. Items Stolen While Parked In Valet
Our stay here was nice. Love how close it is to so many restaurants but away from downtown. The only bad part was having a bag stolen while my truck was valet parked. It was a dry bag that I carry with me in case I want to go out on the water with my cameras. I noticed when I got home and cleaned the truck out that it wasn't there. I called and reported it but never heard back. They say they have cameras so they should have seen something. Our stay here was nice. A Great Place to Stay, but Space is a Premium
Space is a premium at the Club Wyndham Avenue Plaza in New Orleans. The accommodations are up to the usual Wyndham standards, but the dimensions of everything seem smaller. The check-in area is well-appointed but narrow... if there are several people trying to do business at the front desk or dealing with the valet, the lobby can get crowded very quickly. The one-bedroom suite at the Club Wyndham Avenue Plaza measures approximately 468 - 503 square feet (floor plans vary). Our suite included a kitchenette with a two-burner stovetop, microwave, and small fridge (11.1 cubic feet?). Glasses, utensils, and cookware are provided just like at a standard Wyndham resort. A dining table with four chairs was positioned by the large window looking out onto the city. The couch converted into a queen bed, which was nice except that it ended up taking most of the remaining space in the living room. The bedroom was comfortable and nicely decorated, but other than the queen bed and the furniture, there wasn't much extra room to walk around. The bathroom was nice but very small... definitely, only one person at a time can use the facilities. Space is a premium inside AND outside the hotel. Valet parking is available at the Club Wyndham Avenue Plaza, but it's not cheap (Non-Owner Parking = $33.74 per night!). However, the price is probably as good as anything else you could find, plus you don't have to deal with finding a parking spot and then walking back to the hotel. Just understand it's a necessary evil of the trip. The staff was very friendly and helpful. All of the amenities have just opened back up, so the only service not being offered is daily room cleaning, but if you need additional towels or toilet paper, etc, they will bring it to you. The location is great. There are several restaurants within walking distance (we enjoyed Houston's and Jack Rose) as well as a Brother's Food Mart on the corner with all the basics you might need and a Walgreens just down the street. The St. Charles Streetcar line is literally just outside the front door. Be aware that the streetcars are still requiring a mask to be worn when riding. Fortunately, the front desk has a supply of disposable masks available if you forgot yours. Also, be sure to do your homework regarding where the streetcar will take you, where you will need to get off the streetcar and walk, and where you might as well get your car from the valet and drive. Overall, it was a great place to stay and we would stay there again. Space is a premium at the Club Wyndham Avenue Plaza in New Orleans. They canceled our reservation.
I called the resort the day prior to our check in date to let them know we would be arriving after 1:00 a.m. When we showed up around 2:00 a.m. we were told that the reservation had been canceled. Further, that they did not handle reservations so she could not give us a room. The clerk, who was probably the person responsible for canceling no shows, apologized but did not offer any other help. It was Memorial Day weekend so we had few choices and ended up at the Marriott, paying almost $200 a night including parking.
