if you want to ski in the best center in south america:
excelent place , the hotel is a 100 meters from de lines to go up the mountain , to eat and have breakfast is with regular prices , nice people to service , the rooms are very cleaner , and the view to the mountain , is the best . The swimming pool has the problem that there are no restrictions for the children at anytime , may is a topic to improve. excelent place , the hotel is a 100 meters from de lines to go up the mountain , to eat and have breakfast is with regular prices , nice people to service , the rooms are very cleaner , and the view to the mountain , is the best . Great homey feel and proximity to the mountain.
Amazing off-season visit. Comfortable beds and hot water/shower. Amazing views of the lake and the cerro, located essentially at the base of the ski lifts. Helpful staff. Beautiful, real wood everywhere. New chef "Sergio" very simpatico and accommodating. We spent 5 hours in the dining room on Christmas Eve (Noche Buena), with all the guests and the chef talking with each other and having a great time. As mentioned by others, some upkeep is needed, but nothing that detracted from the visit. Swimming pool just being renovated, so can't comment. Definitely recommend. Amazing off-season visit. Beware!
Let's start with this. My 6-year-old daughter cut her foot in the broken tiles of the pool. A pretty deep gash. It was too painful to walk, so obviously she couldn't ski anymore. 12,000 pesos in ski lessons and equipment hire lost! The pool is clearly not maintained. The apartments are missing obvious and important facilities. There's no plugs for the baths, so if you have small children you have to shower them or improvise a plug. Reception weren't able to locate any plugs for us. The kitchen was missing quite a few implements which we had to request from reception. The fridges are those tiny ones that fit under the counter, which are fine if you're just a couple staying for a day or two, but totally insufficient for families. How they justify such a tiny fridge in an apartment that has EIGHT beds escapes me. The rooms were superficially clean, but you didn't have to look too far to see areas that hadn't been cleaned in a long time. The bathrooms looked like the cleaning staff had made an honest attempt to leave it clean, but working with old, often broken installations has its limits. We ordered food via room service and it was barely edible. Reception said that they had new kitchen staff and there had been quite a few complaints. They returned the money we paid for the food right away. The location is unbeatable with great views of the mountain (you can see people skiing from your room), and the installations look like they were once really nice. The style of the building is beautiful - an appropriate combination of stone and wood that suits the Argentinean style as well as the alpine setting. Makes for great photos. It feels like the staff are pleasant and competent, but working against management in trying to provide a pleasant stay. Given the prices for guests and the expenses charged to the time-share owners, management cannot be short of resources to maintain a much higher quality of facilities and standard of service, which one can only 'imagine' is due to ineptitude and/or corruption. It's a real shame as the location and buildings could be such a great place. If they light the fire in reception, it's worth checking out. Just stay clear of the food and the pool for your own safety. Let's start with this. My 6-year-old daughter cut her foot in the broken tiles of the pool. A pretty deep gash. Good location, so-so amenities
Part of this hotel is owned by a hotel time-share chain called Club Inn, I think we booked a room in that section of the hotel because we got hit up to listen to a 2-hour pitch to try to get us to subscribe... this was on our last night and very annoying, but I guess we didn't have to agree to go to the meeting (we were told it would take 5 minutes). The food in the restaurant was decent (they have affordable dinners so you don't have to go out), the breakfast is quite good and included with the room. The room was nice, everything fine there. The pool looked like it had not been cleaned in a year. Don't book this place based on wanting to use the pool. The lounge was cozy and nice although we didn't get too many chances to hang out there. Overall it was fine for the price (1200 pesos in early September 2015) and it was the cheapest place I could find in the ski village that wasn't booked. We got there right as low season started and I think a week before our visit, the same room would have cost 2200 pesos/night. In that case I might have preferred another place, but really it was not terrible (especially considering some of the reviews on here!) Home away from home near ski lifts
I have spent a week at Hosteria del Cerro every year since childhood until my twenties, and have gone back a few times since then, last time was in August 2014. It is homey as always, comfortable, clean, and close to the ski lifts. The in-out swimming pool is great. It is a good hotel for a family holiday. Bring table games and a good book. Or who knows, you may use those days to write your own ;) I have spent a week at Hosteria del Cerro every year since childhood until my twenties, and have gone back a few times since then, last time was in August 2014.
