Quiet, great shelling beach

The time of year I went, the resort was quiet with mostly retired folks. Most of the units are small but clean and well appointed. The resort is older but well maintained. The units are just a few steps away from an excellent shelling beach. Inside the units there is no garbage disposal but otherwise the kitchen has everything you need. The TV's are very small. The bathrooms are small with a tub/shower. There is a nice showerhead. Outside there are plenty of picnic tables and seating. There is playground equipment for little folk. The free bikes are newer and well maintained. Sanibel has many well maintained bike paths. The time of year I went, the resort was quiet with mostly retired folks. we love it!

The Caribe is a small, old fashioned resort on the beach. The staff is friendly, and always happy to help in many ways. Dawn, the office manager is especially helpful, she goes out of her way to make stays enjoyable. The efficiency rooms are fine but do not accommodate 4 adults. The couch is short(loveseat?) and the hide-a-bed won't comfortably sleep 2 adults. I wish that they had safes in the rooms for passports and other valuables. The grounds are immaculate and pool is great. Tables around the pool are old and in dire need of replacement. We have been coming here for many years and hope to continue for many more. Wonderful Place

My wife and I stayed at this resort for a week and enjoyed every minute of it! We had a very small unit, but we didn’t need anything bigger as we were almost always outdoors. I don’t think you’ll find anything better at their prices on Sanibel. Everyone there was so friendly. We are already planning our next visit, and hope we get to stay at the same resort. LOVE THIS PLACE

OK, full disclosure, this is a timeshare resort and we own the 3 weeks we use every year. Have been coming here since the mid-1980’s. If you are looking for a 5-star resort with beach boys to carry your stuff and bring drinks to the pool, then this place isn’t for you. But, if you are looking for “old Florida” ambiance, incredibly friendly and helpful staff, and beautiful beaches around with awesome shelling, then this is what you want. Yes, the efficiencies have old-style “Murphy” beds you pull down from the wall and the rooms don’t have the most modern amenities around...but we don’t stay in our rooms very much and we kind of like the “kitchky” feel of the resort and our room. There are 1-bedroom units and a couple multiple room cottages but we have been very happy with our place and look forward to coming back every year. Not impressed.

The outside was beautifully kept. Swimming pool was gorgeous. But I guess you get what you pay for. I booked this apartment because I found it on the AFVC website and I've always had beautiful condos when I booked with them. This place was extremely tiny. Beds were very uncomfortable and well past needing new mattresses. If two people were in the same room, you had to back into a corner to let them by. There were three of us and I can't imagine having 6 people in the unit. It was clean enough, but very old and dated. The balcony space we had was very nice. Spent a lot of time there when not at the beach. I read numerous good reviews on this place so I was surprised that it was disappointing. I don't think I'll book there again.
