AVOID at All Costs
My husband and I booked a trip to Seasons Resort in mid-September as my parents are Wyndham members who have banked points with RCI and were kind enough to give us some points. We paid nearly $300 in fees for the booking, which was a week because that was their minimum. Two days before we were set to arrive, we received a call from an employee at Seasons asking what time we would be arriving the next day. I said we weren't sure and that we were driving up from NYC. The employee responded, "ok but you have to be here between 4 and 7." Apparently, they only do check-in for 3 hours per day. I told them we had a 6-hour drive and expected to arrive later in the day because we had to work. The employee told me they could not accommodate a later check-in. My husband and I travel often and have never had this issue. Even at smaller hotels/motels with limited check-in hours, they've always been happy to make accommodations and leave behind a key or instructions for how to check in after hours. Seasons refused to do any of that and will only check in guests for 3 hours each day. I asked what we were supposed to do and she said she could "arrange an early check-in for the following day." When I said, "How does that help us for Friday night (the day we were supposed to arrive?)", she simply repeated that we can only check in from 4pm-7pm. We ended up losing the $300 because we didn't go and it would have cost us even more to get the points refunded. Avoid this place at all costs. Their customer service is horrible and, from the other reviews, it's clear we didn't miss out on much. Hardly a “Resort”
The room was tiny and poorly laid out, it would have serviced better as a storage area. The open closet doubled as a pantry. No a/C but they gave you a fan. The “kitchen” was 2 burners a mini fridge and a little sink in the entry way. No heat except in the winter but they gave you a space heater(seriously!?) The filthy deck overlooked a green slimy pool that was thankfully closed. The”Rustic” tennis courts were actually just neglected. 2 courts , one net held up with 4 different types and colors of cord. There was a nice hot tub… on the front deck next to the busy road, zero privacy. If they hired an interior decorator they were robbed, the place was devoid of any aesthetics. We traded our spacious lofted bedroom full living room, bath and kitchen timeshare (With closets that had actual doors and a deck overlooking a golf course) for THIS??? RCI needs to start going to these places and see them in person. The room was tiny and poorly laid out, it would have serviced better as a storage area. The open closet doubled as a pantry. Read the reviews BEFORE you stay here
The resort definitely had seen better days. I REGRET not checking other previous guests' comments and I would have known better what to expect or to NOT stay there. The cell service usually does not work unless you stand in their parking lot. When we asked about better service, we were told to use WiFi calling with the internet. That helped some, but it was not consistent for getting calls and/or text messages. FaceBook messenger was our main way to communicate with friends and family. The couch was very old with several worn through places where you could see the padding. The bed was quite soft and could hear and feel some of the springs. The bedroom window was unable to be opened because the molding was rotting or damaged. There is no air conditioning, they provided a window fan, BUT we were glad did not need it. HOWEVER, it got very cold for September, and I turned on the furnace even though it had a sign that said I could not because it was too soon before the winter season. The location is not close to much for restaurants, and groceries are about 10 or more minutes away. It was a quiet and peaceful location, and there were no more than 4 other units being used while we were there. Management were friendly and helpful if you needed something. Not For Summer Days
If you enjoy the mountains, but also enjoy the comforts of the current century such as Air Conditioning then keep searching. This 'resort' does not have Air Conditioning which had us astonished from the onset, but we decided to check-in since we had already no way to get our money back. The unit had a coach which should have been burned. There were stains on the arm rest and the cushions. The shower was small to say the least, and was not representative of the pictures with tubs. Since it was a hot week we decided to not stay at the resort, but found a hotel with vacancy in MIddlebury. We stopped back in to have lunch and check-out mid week. We had to confirm it was as bad as we initially thought. The 'resort' uses the terms strict and prohibited quite a bit throughout their signs. Each unit includes a single box fan and a portable heater. That indicates to me they are trying to keep their expenses as low as possible which I can understand, but several colors of caulk in the shower indicate they keep the operating budget low. Excellent hosts!
The owners of the resort were extremely friendly and helpful, a pleasant surprise for a hotel these days! No air conditioning was tough in the summer. That was the only negative. Great area, beautiful location. The internet was great, which was important as we had to work while we were there. Overall very nice.
