Thetford Staycation alternative.

Richmond Park Golf Club at Watton10 miles from Thetford. Small 1 bedroom apartment sleeps 2 with sofabed in lounge. Suitable for summer season but in colder months advised by reception that electric wall mounted heaters expensive to run. Thought that window and wall insulation inadequate. Beds most uncomfortable due to age as was the sofa in the lounge area. But the clubhouse and proximity of course makes it attractive for golfers.. Very run down establishment, with no facilities, i.e. no bar or restaurant

I read the Trip Advisor comments before leaving so was not surprised to find how dire and run down the whole place is. The only saving grace was the golf course which was in good condition. I feel the owners although they tried to be helpful are struggling to keep the place going. Good base for local area

We stayed across two houses, one on the path from the clubhouse to the 1st tee, the other overlooked the 15th fairway. The first house could have 6 people, the second had 4. Both of these would create quite a crowded house. We stayed for a week and the overall impression is that the whole place needs some TLC. When we first arrived into the reception, there were certificates for an excellent resort in the 2010s. Sadly, the COVID pandemic hasn't been kind to this place, staff are at a minimum and the maintenance has suffered. A lick of paint inside and out would really help. So would a decor update. We had to bring across a toaster from the second house in the mornings, the kettles leaked water, I tried to hoover the apartment and the cleaner fell apart as I brought it out, the windows and window sills were filthy and I went out to give them a clean. There isn't any internet and the signal in the second house (down in a dip, trees all around) was patchy at best (I basically only had 1 bar when on the far end of a sofa, craning my neck). The golf club restaurant is still shut, so a guide for the local take-aways and restaurants would be really helpful. Ditto a guide to local attractions like national trust parks. However, the staff who are there are very helpful, kind and attentive. They obviously care about the golf club and resort and are trying their best in a difficult situation. Overall, the apartments are clean. The water pressure is brilliant! I slept on a really comfy sofa-bed, the duvet was lovely and warm. We didn't have any problems with noisy golfers. The resort works best as a base to get around to other local locations like Kings Lynn, Norwich, the Norfolk coast. Richmond Park

I am an owner at Richmond Park and visited friends there recently. They have conned all the owners into sending back paperwork saying that they needed to change the unit allocations due to a refurbishment programme and then never sent replacement paperwork. They have now contacted RCI and repossessed the units without offering any refund at all. They are trying to sell the resort without paying out any timeshare owners we have solicitors involved it is fraud. The whole resort is run down. Don't go

We had been offered this as an exchange told we would be going to luxurious accommodation and would be able to play on a magnificent golf course. Ha we arrived no one in sight everything apart from the bar closed. Found a cleaner who managed to find a key for the apartment we had been offered. Door had paint peeling off it opened the door tape holding down the carpet. I said were was the Magnificent accommodation we had been offered. She said everyone says that no work has been done for a long time the site is up for sale so no refurb. Thought about going straight back home but it seemed clean and we had travelled a long way went to have a look at the magnificent golf course again ha nothing done on this for the last 18 months so you know what it looked like.. Left after a couple of days still no one about so left the key in reception couldn't leave quick enough.
