Great resort -- watch out for the unmasked
We have loved this resort for years. It was our first exchange since the pandemic started. We are extremely concerned about Covid and do not feel comfortable hanging out with unmasked strangers. The resort has a policy of "masks in public areas." Other than the staff, nobody was following this guideline. That just meant staying out of public areas and taking the stairs. In terms of keeping the unit sanitized, it was clear that was the case before we arrived, so no problem there. I recognize that others are completely comfortable unmasked. If this pertains to you, no problem here. Just a word to those who care about this. We have another exchange coming up in December, 2021, at a different resort and we'll see how that goes. Hotel denies 7 days advanced cancellation to Covid Positive Guest and Family
If you are at all concerned about Covid precautious at this hotel don't stay there. It is very concerning that we found out late Friday, a week before our reservation that a member of our family had Covid and that we all had been exposed and needed to quarantine. Of course we, felt we shouldn't go to the funeral we were going to attend. So, I went onto Booking.com to request a cancellation 7 days in advance. Booking sent a request for the property to accept. When I called the property on Saturday to ask about the cancellation, they said only Booking. com could do it because I paid through them. I had to wait until Monday to call Booking. The Booking agent said what the property told me was not true, it was the only the property who could cancel. He went out of his way to help . He wrote a manual letter to the property asking them to cancel the reservation with the reason and even said that booking won't charge them any fees. The property denied it again saying, it wasn't done 7 days in advanced because I missed there window by a few hours. I tried to reason with supervisor, Monica, explaining this wasn't safe for anyone. She kept having to go back to inventory control and each time they deny it saying 7 days. It is now 4 days of back and forth when they could have sold the room to someone else. This property is an added not nightmare to having to burying our friend and dealing with Covid in the family. Now, we have to decide if we risk that the rest of us our OK to go to the hotel, just so we don't completely through away $500 dollars. I'm so mad, that I even have to think about this. Shame on you San Clemente Cover Resort for being willing to risk the health of your Guest for $500 dollars. If you are at all concerned about Covid precautious at this hotel don't stay there. We love the Cove resorts because the condo is spacious and well maintained. The sofa pulls out into a bed, they gave us a roll away and plenty of bedding and pillows. The entire condo was well stocked with everything you need. Stainless steel appliances. The bedroom was clean and the bed was so comfortable in room 103. We had a sunset view We love the Cove resorts because the condo is spacious and well maintained. The sofa pulls out into a bed, they gave us a roll away and plenty of bedding and pillows. Fun week at the beach.
Resort is across the the street from a very nice beach and pier. Many walking and bike trails along the beach. Can walk to many nice restaurants and coffee shops. Hot tub on the third floor with a nice view of the ocean. Resort is across the the street from a very nice beach and pier. Many walking and bike trails along the beach. Great place, first time here and we'll be back
Great staycation get away on our 33rd anniversary. Stumbled upon this place while searching for a beach hotel near Laguna. The travel site said it was rare to have a room available here, there was only one unit available, so I quickly booked it for a couple nights as a suprize for my wife on our 33rd anniversary. We were a bit concerned about traveling and safety with Covid 19 pandemic still going on, and the description said they take extra precautions here. All staff wear masks and there are big bottles of hand sanitizer everywhere. Inside our room was a free kit that includes a sterilized mask in a cellophane package, nitrile gloves, and small bottle of hand santizer. On the entrace door is a "sanitized and sealed" sticker on the door jamb, same on the dishwasher, and when opening the dishwasher it let out hot steam so I knew the dishes were practically sterilized. The one little glitch upon beginning our stay was that our unit [number 202] was leaking water like a sieve from the ceiling fan/light fixture .I called the front office, who said maintenance has already left, but sent up someone from housekeeping [Berta] "Berta” was a big help, she mopped up water with towels and said she would explain to the office that this is much worse than just a drip. The personnel was apologetic and said the property is booked solid except there is one unit available for only tonight, but you'll have to move back to 202 tomorrow after maintenance can repair the leak. So they moved us upstairs to unit 309 which had a glorious ocean view of San Clemente pier and beach from the balcony patio. The unit was spacious, has a full fridge, small stove, microwave, sink, and dinning area, plus patio chairs and table outside. Living room has a couch, two comfy chairs, flat screen TV and a gas fireplace. The separate bedroom has a queen bed, and another flat screen TV. We walked across the street directly to the San Clemente pier and strolled hand in hand, watching surfers, watching fishermen, nodding hello to other couples. We were a bit disappointed that we were one of the few who wear masks when out in public, but at least we were outside and at safe distances from people. We brought food and snacks so went back to our place and had fruit, cheese, and meats al fresco from our patio as we watched the beautiful sunset. Back inside there is no air conditioner so we had windows open and fans kept us at comfortable tempature. At night the sounds of ocean waves lullaby us to sleep. The next day around noon we were informed that our original room has been fixed and someone who booked 309 many months in advance will be checking in, so we moved back to 202, which didn't have a full ocean front view, but the partial ocean view was still nice and we walked all up and down SC State Beach so we got to see it all up close anyway. There is a small store and a few eateries down on the street level, we had pizza and pasta from Costentino’s which was good, and we used a coupon at the Gelatto place which delicious. This was our first stay here at San Clemente Cove Resort, and it wont be our last, I highly recommend it to others. Great staycation get away on our 33rd anniversary.
