Stunning location

Fabulous location, wonderful apartment with high quality fittings, we were all impressed with heating system. Easy access to walks, bike rides, bus service to Oakham and Stamford. Good gym and swimming pool. Chip and put, crazy golf that was not that crazy but still a laugh. Stunning views. Quick check in. American sized beds. Misleading RCI page

We arrived expecting a small lodge but were allocated a tiny, dark Apartment. An upstairs unit in a block of 8. However, there was absolutely no way that 4 adults could have stayed there. The Bedroom was ok but in the kitchen there was only room for 1 person and to use the sofa bed in the lounge would mean moving the dining table and chairs and whoever slept there had no room to move around and nowhere to hang clothes. Also there were just 2 small windows looking out at shrubbery and the whole apartment was very dark and claustrophobic. It was clean and modern and I would say it would be perfectly fine for 2 people but not suitable for 4. My main complaint was that I feel misled. Having been there twice before and loved staying in the lodges both times, I was looking forward to going again and I was very disappointed at what we were allocated. I am also very much out of pocket, having to pay another fee in order to have to rent a 2 bedroomed lodge to stay there. It made for a very expensive week away. I strongly suggest that the webpage needs updating. Firstly to reflect the fact that not all units are lodges as the pictures are very misleading, and secondly to change the name of the resort to reflect the current name as this could be misleading to people who have never been there before. It is no longer called Barnsdale Country Club. It is now called Rutland Hall I intend to add a review reflecting my disappointment. Avoid this at all costs!!!

We stayed in Stable Mews 74 and after the first day there was a terrible smell coming from behind the washing machine. Reporting to reception was easy but getting maintenance to attend and rectify was another thing entirely – we were told to the run the machine to clean out the system but that didn’t work and we spent 5 days out of 7 complaining about the smell. Eventually on running the machine we ended up with a flood in the kitchen and they sent 2 lifeguards to help tidy up the mess! At no point were we offered alternative accommodation! Pointwise I thought it expensive for the size of the accommodation on offer – we have stayed in bigger studio apartments! Lovely holiday by Rutland Water.

Stayed at Barnsdale before but this was our first this year in an A frame. Excellent facilities and space for the family holiday. Brought the children and grandchildren during Covid restrictions to stay. Weather was great so was able to eat and had drinks outside the Edith Western suite with lovely views over the reservoir. Was also able to invite other family members and our dog to this part of the site as the new owners are allowing access. Love the location and the staff this year deserved plenty of praise. Stayed at Barnsdale before but this was our first this year in an A frame. Excellent facilities and space for the family holiday. Wonderful tonic for body & mind

I visited Barnsdale Spa yesterday for a much needed neck, shoulder and back massage. Kyode listened to my requirements carefully and provided a wonderfully relaxing the rejuvenating massage that relieved my stress points using a variety of professional techniques. The ambience was spot on - the room was a comfortably warm temperature and the use of a candle kept light to a minimum. The essential oils smelt divine too. I felt so relaxed afterwards, I could have fallen to sleep on the massage table! I can’t thank you enough Kyode - I will be back very soon!
