CAUTION! Beautiful locale but no services

PRO. Great views of the Dolomites and excellent location: 20 min to Dobbiaco, Misurina, and Cortina. Silence (except for the main road) in a gorgeous valley. CON. All the facilities and services are closed: bar, restaurant, pool, jacuzzi, sauna, market, shops, game room. Nothing here but your room! Staff and website do not mention this, so it can be a nasty surprise. Rooms on the highway side have no view and are noisy from the traffic. The resort architecture is beautiful on the outside but it is very old-style and run down on the inside. A tiny in-room kitchen that needs upgrading. Some rooms are the size of closets. CONCLUSION. In general, we loved the location but we very disappointed with the resort and the room. [NB. we stayed here as an RCI timeshare exchange] PRO. Holiday for family and friends.

A good place to stay. Very cosy. Very helpful staff as well. Parking is very easy to find. Ideally one of the best places to relax. Also there are nearby shops to buy food for self catering. We booked this place for two nights by telephone on 25 and 29 July for a short hike around Tre Cime di Lavoredo. The lady who took our booking asked us to send an email to confirm our booking, which we did. However, when we arrived today, they told us there were no rooms and that they had no record of our booking. Despite showing them the email that we sent to confirm our booking they were unapologetic. They made no attempt to help us get alternative accommodation, and just pointed up the road to their competitor's hotel, the Hotel Croda Rossa. We asked if they could telephone the hotel for us, but it seems that was too much trouble for them. We drove 600 kilometres from Rome today, and were looking forward to our hike. We expect hotel staff to be more considerate toward their customers when there has been a mix up. Luckily the Hotel Croda Rossa had spare rooms for both nights. It's a proper hotel and the staff are very friendly. By contrast the Villaggio Ploner seems to be more like student accommodation, with staff who would rather be doing something else. It looked a bit of a dump, in any case, so they probably did us a favour. If you're thinking of spending a night in Carbonin, it's a no brainer which of the two places to stay in. Terrible! never again!!

Starting point: Receptionist very rude. The facilities are in a bad shape, it's very outdated and it needs a refurbishing as soon as possible. The hidden compulsory charge of 18 euros is just ridiculous considering that you have to take outside the rubbish yourself. The bed was a piece of concrete, I think that sleeping on the floor would have been better. I will never be back again and I was very disappointed as the pictures showed a better place than what it actually was. Starting point: Receptionist very rude. Great value, very helpful lady on reception, facilites limited in room.

Just had a nice stay here. Firstly let me say Serena on the front desk couldn't be more helpful, both before we arrived and when we were there. The complex is nice, although mostly closed in May as is the low season, so no restaurant or bar on site. The room we had, no 3582 (third floor) was fine, although as an appartment for six would have been a helluva squeeze. Their were 4 bunks and a double sofa bed. The dofa bed though was the only 'comfy' seating so if staying here as more than two of you means only twocan sit comfortably whereas the other will have to use the hard kitchen chairs. Also the kitchenette was poorly equiped in terms of no overn or microwave, so just two hot plates. Did have a fridge which was fine though, plus a lovely balcony with super view, great shower and bathroom. Just had a nice stay here.
