Getting outdated
Village at Copper square is in a beautiful location. The furniture is getting old, needs a fresh paint job and the bathroom was tiny. We went in May and it is a ghost town. They should warn users that nothing is open. Village at Copper square is in a beautiful location. The furniture is getting old, needs a fresh paint job and the bathroom was tiny. Closet Sized Condo
For dedicated ski bums who don't need any amenities. Just a place to sleep right at the slopes. We checked out and went to Keystone a got a condo out of pocket (burned this RCI week). Very claustrophobic and we were there in October, so no skiing happening anyway. For dedicated ski bums who don't need any amenities. Just a place to sleep right at the slopes. Village Square West 338
We checked in around 10pm local time, with no wait for a representative, as our shuttle driver waited outside to take us to the condominium building we would be staying in.  Check-in was quick and easy. Desk is open 24 hours according to Copper Mountain Lodging. Our driver from Summit Express (see other reviews, I’m limiting this to the lodging only) dropped us off at the steps/ramp in front of the building.  From there it is a short walk to the building lobby, and up the elevator to the room. Before I get to that though, just off the lobby are the ski lockers and laundry, and benches for getting boots on and preparing for a day on the slopes.  We had “rented” a lock at check-in, so we picked an available locker and put our skis in it before we went to the room.  The entrance requires a key card to get in. There is a second entrance on the west side of the building to the lobby, making it easier to get to stores and restaurants in the Center Village.  We rented an efficiency unit.  It had a complete kitchen, with full size refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, dishes/silverware and coffee maker with a couple packs of coffee and supplies.  It also included a dining area with table with 6 chairs, sofabed, loveseat, chair, end tables, flat screen TV, and fireplace.  There is also an enclosed balcony with a couple of chairs and a small table. There is a fan and humidifier in the closet, and if I recall, an iron and ironing board.  To both sides of this room are paper thin (so keep your voices down) doors that connect to bedroom units that can be rented individually, or grouped with the efficiency unit to sleep more people. The doors also have gaps around them so light, sound, and the smell of weed smoke may enter your room at 2am, or any other hour of the day. Did I mention we were informed at Check-in that this is a non-smoking building? The bathroom has a toilet, tub/shower, a single vanity/sink, a heater, and an anemic vent fan that squeals and groans as it fails to defog the mirror in the driest environment north of the Chihuahuan desert. Plenty of towels were provided, as well as soaps and lotion.  Soap, shampoo and conditioner is in dispensers in the shower.  Overall, the unit is nicely decorated, clean, and reasonably functional.  We turned down the heat to 60, but it remained a warm 70+. Chair and Loveseat were clean and comfortable. Tables and lamps plentiful.  The couch has no back support and the lower cushions are too wide, so the back of your calves hit the cushions before your back hits the upper cushions, so you are in this half reclined position and nothing behind your lower back.  There is no way to get comfortable.  If you think the couch is uncomfortable, wait until you open it up into a sofa bed.  The sofa bed frame has seen better days.  There’s a bar in your back, as you roll to the valley in the middle, or maybe it’s a crater, or perhaps a bowl.  We ended up placing the mattress on the floor and closing up the sofa bed.  The mattress was much more comfortable and functional, though the couch was now completely useless without the mattress in it to support the bottom cushions. The best part of the room is the enclosed balcony, accessed by a properly sealing door.  In the late afternoon this room, warmed by the sun, is a great place to relax, have a beverage, and warm up after a day on the slopes.  Since COVID-19 had closed hot tubs and spas, this alternative was nice, and had a pleasant view of the village and skaters on the frozen pond. The building is conveniently located, approximately 1/8 mile from the lifts.  Though not ski-in/ski-out, the walk is relatively short and easy, and there are options for coffee enroute, and places to sit and watch the mountain awaken.  Express check out was easy, just leave the key cards in the room.  But to return the lock for the ski locker (and get the deposit credited to your account) requires a trip back to check-in desk.  DON’T do this at prime check-in time (4-6 pm), or avoid it by bringing your own lock.  We had to wait a half hour in line to return the lock.  Watched a lady who had just checked in to find mildewed carpet in her room (not Village Square building) and was unable to get maintenance help be told to wait in line (again), as the 2 agents were checking in new arrivals.  Then, as we approached the desk, a man cut in front of the 10 or so people in line because he “was just here to return a lock”.  NO YOU DON’T.  Get in line and WAIT like the rest of us.  Copper really needs to get some additional help for busy times, and find a better way to handle lock returns.  Maybe the bellhops could handle it, or a drop box.      Overall, Village Square West is a good place to stay, and was a good value for the price. We were in February, so prime ski season.  Despite the annoyances the good outweighs the bad and I would consider staying here again.   We checked in around 10pm local time, with no wait for a representative, as our shuttle driver waited outside to take us to the condominium building we would be staying in.  Check-in was quick and easy. Disappointed
Pros: location Cons: hard to find. Walls are paper thin. Heard everything next door. Bed uncomfortable. No mattress covers...eewww. Blinds didn’t keep light out and we were up super early because of this. Heat didn’t work properly. Freezing with the thermostat cranked. Amenities included coffee maker and dishes. We didn’t have either. Our power went OUT during our stay and was near impossible to find management. Needless to say we won’t return. Pros: location Cons: hard to find. Walls are paper thin. Terrible
I literally cried here. Worse than the pictures, small, old , dingy, soap with one wash made my hands super dry. $475 for two nights what a complete rip off. Never again. One single Mexican restaurant was open at 8pm, just completely felt depressing here I literally cried here.
