Not as expected
Tindaya was not as expected - we now appreciate that it is managed by another resort so that the only RCI presence is a rep for 30 mins per day, i.e no entertainment, bar or restaurant.. Check in was at another resort but no map was available to locate our resort! We only learnt halfway through the week that we could use the Bahia Blanca facilities - it would have been nice to have known this as the start of the week. Not what we have come to expect from RCI. New year visit
Apartment was clean and had everything we needed for the week, the beds were a little flimsy and we're two singles pushed together to make a double. Handy location for the harbour and main bars and restaurants. Lovely pool area and bar/restaurant. Nice appartments handy for the resort
We booked a three bedroom apartment along with a one bedroom to accommodate eight adults, the one bedroom was excellent with a very large balcony and new interior spotlessly clean. However the three bedroom has two decent rooms and one tiny one with bunk beds, the room was spotless and again all new refurbishment but unsuitable for six adults , in my opinion four adults and two children would be the limit for this apartment I managed to book another single apartment for the other two adults with us and we had a great time. The complex is handy for town a with a good pool very clean and well kept in all areas. We enjoyed the Crazy Horse Bar very friendly and helpful, and the night life the resort has to offer we would return in the future but remember not to book a three bed apartment. 3 bed apartment, newly refurbished
we stayed in a 3 bed apartment which was well appointed with a washing machine and two bathrooms. there is no dishwasher though. The large balcony caught the sun from the morning which was good for an April holiday. The pool water was very cold so we did not swim which was a pity. Great views from the balcony. There are a lot of steps but everything is built on a hillside and the benefit is there are great views and the balcony is a sun trap. We just don't like Puerto Rico, it is grim. we stayed in a 3 bed apartment which was well appointed with a washing machine and two bathrooms. there is no dishwasher though. Quality apartments at Tindaya but some serious downsides!
We stayed at one of the higher-level Tindaya apartments during last week in September 2017. It was a cession arrangement via Club La Costa (CLC). We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the accommodation we were allocated. Indeed, it far surpassed our expectations, given our previous experiences with some cession apartments we ended up with in the past. There were the 'Positives' and the 'Negatives' in terms of our experience and impressions at Tindaya. I'll summarise: The Positives: - excellent accommodation with excellent facilities - furniture, kitchen, bathrooms and toilet all seemed immaculately new. - 'free' wifi, quality TV, though no BBC, no Sky, just ITV. However, as we were out most of the time, this wasn't much of an issue to us. - quite helpful staff, though you get the impression the only attendant/advisor that was available for about an hour (10am daily) at the Tindaya reception was always in a hurry. No surprises there! -Paul and Paul at the Crazy Horse (English/Irish guys) were most friendly and ever so helpful. They made us feel as though we were in London. Great guys. -The Beach, local Restaurants and shopping centre were down the hill, about 10/15mins walk, or 5mins by taxi. You can get all you need for self-catering. -great sunny weather everyday, though we experienced one nasty thunderous tropical stormy night during our stay. With heavy rain banging on the windows, it was as though roof was going to fall in. Was bright and sunny much of next day though. -we took advantage of the various escortion tours on offer. Don't miss the Grand Canaria All-Day guided coach tour. We thoroughly enjoyed it. There are also Boat-trips to nearby Mogan Market and others. Bus trips to these markets also available from nearby bus station. Bus fares very cheap. Boat trips a bit more costly - about 6Euros p/p each way. The Negatives - Top of the list got to be the hilly steep location of the Tindaya apartments. Several stairs to maneuver to get up to your apartment. Major challenge when you've got heavy luggage or shoppings. Not at all recommended for the elderly or infirm. Even getting up to the location from downtown was a major huddle, especially with shoppings or when you're tired from a long day out. You need a car or taxi to get up there. The only consolation is that taxi fares are/were quite cheap - about 3Euros from the beach or major bus-stop at the nearby city centre down the hills. - another major handicap to watch out for is that you'll most probably need to check-in at the Bahia Blanco reception, a much larger sister-resort about 20mins drive away from Tindaya. On our first day, we arrived at Bahia Bianco quite late, past midnight. Despite fore-warning them about our arrival itineraries, we were simply given a set of keys with a little map and expected to find our way to our apartment, that time of night! Taxi took us there, dropped us up at bottom of the hill outside some locked gates, right there in the middle of nowhere, about 1am. Luckily for us, and many thanks to Paul, owner/manager of the nearby Crazy Horse restaurant, who was already driving off to go home but spotted our dilemma and stopped to help us find our way through the gates into the resort and up the very challenging stairs right at top of the huge range of apartments. During our stay, we met a number of other holiday guests with tales of their harrowing experiences in trying to find their apartments late at night. Sadly, and as already mentioned, the little Reception on the opposite side of the Tinday apartments is manned just for about an hour daily from 10am-11am. Not at all advisable to arrive at Tindaya late or at night time. -seems just one swimming pool and ease of access very much depends on which apartment you're allocated. We didn't find the s/pool of any use. We preferred going down to the beach, doing our shopping and catching a taxi back home.
