Relaxing trip to enjoy local breweries and fall foliage

Nice quiet location, though as we expected it was a 11 mile drive (down winding, pretty, tree lined roads to nearest stores etc. at Mt Jackson) Units overlooked golf course and it was a nice morning walk to nearby Bryce resort and back.(we didn't use the resort) Units were older, but well maintained. minor faults like stain on carpet and chipped woodwork. Comfortable beds, nice whirlpool bath, well equipped for 8 persons. We stayed in a 3 bedroomed unit. lots of quaint towns, nearby with breweries and cidery and good food. Shenandoah caverns nearby well worth a visit. Unit in dire need of updating!!

This unit was in desperate need of updating. Carpet coming out from the floor. Cosmetic repairs were done very poorly. The unit was actually clean but the age of the unit made the appearance that it definely need some work. I had a 3 bedroom unit where I was suppose to have friends with me. Luckily at the last minute they had to cancel. It would have been embarrassing for them to see this unit. This unit was in desperate need of updating. Carpet coming out from the floor. Extremely Remote

We stayed in a 2 bedroom townhome. There is a short flight of stairs into the main floor, a double flight up to the 2nd bedroom and a double flight down to the master. The units are spacious but showing incredible wear. The rugs and couch were stained. Large pieces of Formica were missing in the kitchen. In the master bedroom, the knob was broken off the closet, pieces of wood were broken off the dresser, one draw was stuck shut. There was a small flat screen TV. The King size mattress sagged so badly in the middle that you couldn't sleep toward the end of the bed The vanity in the bathroom was missing the bottom shelf so if you put anything on it, it fell to the floor. There was a shower which was fine and a jacuzzi we didn't try. The upstairs bedroom had 2 twin beds and a full bath. No TV. There are no land line phones in the unit and cell service was iffy at best. There is an activity center with a pool and gym. It's closed on Sunday and closed by 5 during the week. Ive been timesharing for nearly 30 years and this was the first resort I've stayed at that didn't provide toilet paper beyond the roll on the holder. Had to buy toilet paper tissues and paper towels and bath soap besides the usual shampoo and conditioner. Also no towel exchange. There is very little to do in the area. Restaurants are at least 20-30 minutes away and don't seem to open on any schedule. Places would post 11am opening and would still be closed at 2PM. Several times we drove well over an hour trying to find a place to eat. There are several antique malls and wineries in the area as well as civil war battlefields. We stayed in a 2 bedroom townhome. CHALET HIGH - BRYCE MOUNTAIN

We spent a wonderful week at this excellent resort. We enjoyed the beautiful scenic Shenandoah Valley and experienced no problems with our unit. Good restaurants on site and nearby. Lovely, if remote resort

Chalet High is a small resort nestled in the Virginia mountains on the border with West Virginia.. It's perfect for golfers, as the resort is ON the course. With fewer than 100 units, the staff can and do provide excellent service. However, be advised that its location is very remote. Little cell phone service, restaurants mostly closed Monday and Tuesday, 20 minutes by car to anywhere.
