Confortable cottages in excellent condition.

It was our second time at Praias Brancas. This time we stayed at a first floor, one bedroom cottage for 8 nights. The rooms were ample, and the bed comfortable though it has a very hard mattress. There are air conditioning in the bedroom and ceiling fans in the living room. The overall condition of the property was excellent, well tended gardens, paths and the beach. The apartment was clean, very well lit, has a balcony with a table and chairs. It has a complete kitchen with utensils, you can have all your meals there. It also has a washing machine and a separate washing / hanging room. Regardless the fact that all utensils were basic, it had everything needed. The washing machine was a little basic as well, but worked OK. The complex personnel were very nice and provided good support. The complex has a tennis court in good condition. And a gym in a poor condition. Also has areas for the youngsters to gather. It provides beach service, chairs and shades (parasols). The water there is extremely calm (no waves). The property is well located on the north side of the island, with easy access to supermarkets, restaurants and different beaches. Overall a very good experience. Good hotel, Bad timing

We traded in to this hotel through RCI (timeshare) in August 2007. This is their winter (low) season, so the hotel was deserted. We stayed there 6 days and only saw two other cars. We has a 2 bedroom unit, which had a king bed in one bedroom, 2 sets of bunkbeds in the other (4 beds total). There was a small kitchen downstairs. I don't know if it was because it was low season, and the climate is very humid, but some of the kitchen utensils were moldy. They also don't provide any dish soap or sponges, which we had to purchase ourselved at a local market. The hotel has beach access, but we really didn't spend any time there because it was cold and raining most of the time. It turns out that it was the coldest month they had had in over 10 years! The front desk staff were very nice and helpful, most spoke spanish and some english. There was a fireplace in the room, and they provide firewood, which was essential in keeping us warm as there are no heaters. I think this makes a good base to explore the rest of the island. We rented a car, and found that driving there was easy. There is also a bus system that covers the island, but I'm not sure how reliable or convenient it is. The nearby town of Canavieras was nice, lots of shopping and eating. Overall, I would go back to this hotel if I ever returned to Floripa (hopefully in the summer months).
