A Neglected Property, Not Up to RCI Standards

Even the kindness of the staff couldn't make this "resort" higher than 1 star. We had 2 units, a 1 bedroom and a two bedroom. Between the heavy urine smell in the activities center, disgustingly stained carpet, mold growing on the ceilings and in the showers and the strong musty smell this property is severely neglected. This is literally the worse RCI we have ever stayed in. My 80 year old mother had to wear shoes in the shower because of the mold and my daughters left with stuffy noses and coughs from the mustiness of the rooms. We were told there was a balcony which consisted of chairs on the shared walkway. If someone walked by, you'd have to get up so they could get by. Doors didn't work and a hot tub was broken. They advertise jetted tubs and showers but fail to mention the shower is in the jetted tub. Luckily my mother was staying in a 2 bedroom and was able to have a regular moldy shower. Loved this property

Everyone at Plantation Island was friendly. The ocean view from my unit was amazing. The overall facility is older but it has been treated with care. If you are expecting something really fancy, this isn't it. But if you want a warm, cozy unit with a great view, you will enjoy Plantation Island. Everyone at Plantation Island was friendly. A quick trip

Plantation Island is located in a nice location that provided the opportunity to enjoy several varieties of foods and had a very nice beach. The unit is small but comfortable. The air conditioner was very noisy but fairly quiet at night. Very Unpleasant Experience

This hotel is very old and outdated. Great location, but they miss the mark on everything else. A beachfront hotel with no balcony. The rooms are small, dingy and cramped. The carpet was dirty and soiled. The furniture was stained and outdated. The beds were lumpy and uncomfortable. The air filters in the ceiling had debris and dirt hanging out. The toilet did not flush. Beer cans were left under bed and sofa. There were sticky surfaces on the stove & dining table when we checked in. All of these problems were obvious but the front desk insisted the room had been cleaned. They have a towel exchange which means you must go downstairs to exchange dirty towels for clean ones every single day which is very inconvenient. It took two different maintenance guys, two different times to fix a toilet that would not flush. The front desk staff needs customer service training. One of the ladies at the front desk was sarcastic and argumentative when we asked to be moved to a better room that was clean and larger. This entire property needs repair and remodeling badly. Our stay at Plantation Island was very unpleasant. After speaking to management we were offered an apology but nothing to make up for the horrible inconveniences. Tiny units, no balcony

When you unlock the door, the fridge is immediately to your right. The unit is tiny overall, I called it "funsize," but we did not have fun. No balcony, though I am not sure why I expected one. We left after two days rather than stay for a week, we felt very constrained. Very comfortable bed, but how much can one sleep on a beach vacation?
