Health and safety non existent

We were unfortunate to be up at Craigendarok during a storm which took out all the power. Now of course that is not something they could control, but the lack of any emergency procedures left the resort in my opinion out of control and dangerous. I asked if they had an emergency procedure I place and got three answered 1) no 2) yes but we can’t find it 3) yes but only for the hotel The hotel foyer had guests answering for batteries for their lodge torches - candles (none), spare batteries (none), spare torches (none) Our lodge had electric water pump therefore we had no water and were given two tubs of water. They were unable to supply us with any bottled water eve though we had an 12 week baby with us. A gentlemen came into the foyer to say they had a clinically vulnerable adult with them and they could offer him nothing not even a candle! I ended up genuinely scared by the lack of controls or procedures in place. I will be writing to them We were unfortunate to be up at Craigendarok during a storm which took out all the power. Wonderful staff

We have just returned from a six night stay in a one bed studio. The quality of the accommodation was excellent and each studio is well equipped. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful particularly a lady in the restaurant called Alex. When we remarked how much we enjoyed the oatcakes, which came with the cheese, a few minutes later she reappeared and gave us a handwritten a recipe. The resort has a good spa and swimming pools with steam, sauna and some squash courts as well. We also walked around the grounds and managed to see some rare red squirrels playing in the trees. Recent Stay

Myself and my husband recently had a weeks stay in lodge 19. On entering we both noticed a musty smell, opened the patio doors thinking this would resolve the issue. The damp smell was coming from the cupboard in the small hall adjoining the bathroom. We were unable to hang up our clothes, also noticed there is no extractor fan in the bathroom. We actually came home a day early because of this. I would stay at Craigendarroch again but would not use lodge 19. Myself and my husband recently had a weeks stay in lodge 19. Fantastic lodges in beautiful location

Recently returned from a week with family. The lodges are based on a hill and this may be challenging for some however the hill provides stunning views of the nearby scenery. We were in a 6 berth lodge which had more than sufficient space with three separate bathrooms ad shower facilities with a bath contained within one of the shower rooms. Our lodge also had a sauna. There are excellent facilities within the lodges and our son had a double bed which was pulled down from the cabinet within the living room. You cannot fault the lodges. The wider facilities included a swimming pool which you need to be booked into. This can be done 48 hours in advance. There were two main pools and a jacuzzi. The pools are not deep and you have approximately 45 minutes within the pool The gym also needs to be booked into. The equipment within is reasonable the cardio-vascular is modern and easy to use with treadmills bikes and cross trainer. It is a bit small. I am a runner and for those who also prefer to run outside, Ballater is approximately a mile away and once in Ballater if you pick up the railway line you could run for miles on flat tarmac admiring the views. We also dined at the resort restaurant and really enjoyed the meals we had. As a party we had steak, sea bass and the battered fish. They were all excellent and could not be faulted. The only point I would raise for the resort is that there is no shop therefore you need to travel to Ballater for any items required. Ballater has a large supermarket as well as several local independent stores. The lodges are excellent and highly recommended for families Recently returned from a week with family. First break with our granddaughter

Just returned from a short break to a 2bedroom lodge at Craigendarroch. It was a great experience from start to finish. Lodge was fabulous and was clean and well equipped. Tho take cards and games with you as they are still not available in covid times. Have seen people complain about cost of electricity we were around £18 but didn’t need heating because weather was fabulous. We ate in the Keillor Restaurant sat outside for a drink and we all enjoyed what we had chosen maybe a bit pricey but it’s convenient and a nice setting. We used the pool area twice taking our 4 month old granddaughter for her first swim got times we wanted no problem and it’s a lovely pool and nice and warm for a baby. We were also lucky that our lodge was close to the Clubhouse so pushing her pram wasn’t to bad. All in all a great family break.
