Nice family getaway
First time visit and I can honestly say that it was overall an amazing experience. My daughter had a blast at the Waterpark. Storytime defintly eneded the night well. Cons::At checkin they did not disclose daily resort fee. This is something that needs to be disclosed. Barnwood allowing third party yelp to manage their reservations was kind of lazy especially when the restaurant is no big deal. Many food outlets but strategically open and closed to accommodate every outlet. Example, campfire open until 11am as only option besides expensive dunkin. Some staff were on phone while interacting with customers which is unprofessional. Advice for Waterpark, visit during the week before Friday and Saturday. Rooms were clean and suitable. Kids had a blast, but rooms could use an upgrade.
This was the second time my family has visited the Great Wolf Lodge in Lagrange. Our first visit was prior to Covid, so this trip was slightly different from the last, but still a great time had by all. Here are the pros from our trip: *Easy check in and check out-being able to complete a pre-check in made the process of checking in at the hotel a breeze. We were also able to check out online, providing us with more time to travel home. *Lifeguards-The lifeguards did a phenomenal job, never standing in one spot and constantly had their eyes on the water. It was very comforting knowing our kids could enjoy themselves while staying safe. *Employee Asher at MagiQuest was so helpful and answered all of our questions when we struggled with one of the quests. *Concierge Willow service-Being able to text Willow with any requests, services, or questions was awesome. We requested new bedding to be delivered to our room, received a quick reply back and new bedding within minutes. *Hand Sanitizer stations throughout the lodge to help keep germs away. *Kids had an absolute blast-We opted for the Wolf Pass this trip and my kids loved all of the activities included with it. *Howl-oween trick or treating-So much fun! My kids loved being able to dress up and trick or treat around the lodge. Very cool! And some of the cons: *There was pink mold on the stairs of the lazy river-I feel like this is something that needs to be addressed and taken care of, as mold of any kind is dangerous. *Safety check entering water park-During our first visit in 2019, there was an employee station at the doors of the water park, checking the heights of children entering and securing a color coded wristband on their wrists. This visit there was not an employee there once in the three days we visited. This could have potentially been a very dangerous situation for families with small children. *No king size beds-All rooms have queen size beds that fit more like a full and are absolutely horrible. Not only are they extremely uncomfortable, but the frame they put the mattresses on are wooden and squeak and creek at every move. *The kids cabin portion of our room smelled like urine and didn’t appear to be cleaned very well. *In addition to the odor, our room had paint peeled off the walls and large rolled up tape on the walls (I’m assuming from party decorations?). Again, if the room was cleaned well, the tape wouldn’t have been left on the walls. *Lack of “free activities”-Now I know in prior years, face painting, crafts, etc were provided and with covid, these opportunities have to be limited. However, the daily schedule showed “take and go” crafts and there never was any. I approached guest services about them and was told “we don’t have any”. I feel this shouldn’t have been listed on the daily activities if they were not going to be provided. *Mobile ordering for food-This was not available while we visited the lodge. While this option would have been really helpful, it’s disappointing it wasn’t available. *No mask enforcement-There are signs all around the lodge stating that masks are to be worn in all public places, however, there were so many families not wearing masks and no employees ware mandating this rule. Probaly not again
Stayed here for 6 days .. they say they are doing extra cleaning due to covid.. the facilty not the rooms.. upon arrival a wet and dirty towel still hanging in bathroom.. crumbs on bed.. and sand or something on carpet.. we asked for our room to be cleaned but they said they arent doing it due to covid protocols.. im in the medical field and please explain the difference od cleaning our room while we are out or cleaning it when we check out for next guest.. so if i want my room cleaned i have to stay 3 days check out and check in to another room.. im sorry im on vacation i should not be changing my own linens or taking out my garbage… and im sure the rates didnt drop because of less cleaning. That being said .. the water park is really cool bwst time to go is about dinner time less kids… also they are about 400 rooms i think .. WHY ONLY 1 HOT TUB????? Absolutely Amazing!
This was our first trip to GWL, and will not be our last! We used their app to check in 24 hours before arrival, our room was ready when we got there at 4:30PM (heard several complaints standing in line to check in that their rooms weren’t ready but they didn’t check in ahead of time). Exceptional service throughout the resort. Room was spacious and very clean. Meal packages are a must as well as the passes for the kids. It is expensive but it was worth it to see the smiles on the kids faces. Lots of free activities and paid activities. Water park was GREAT and very clean, would recommend getting cabana and getting JAMES as the server! He was fantastic! We used the GWL app to order stuff for the room like towels and toilet paper, it was delivered to our door almost immediately. No cleaning service daily due to Covid but that’s understandable. All dirty towels and trash put outside door and picked up nightly. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. This was our first trip to GWL, and will not be our last! Family Week Long Vacation
We went in the middle of September which was a perfect time because the resort wasnt packed. There is some much to do. I have a 5 year old boy and a 8 year old girl and they loved everything. We purchased the higher trier wolf pass which includes a wand, magic quest, rock climbing, bowling, ropes course, mining, mini golf, card of the arcade, cup of ice cream and cup of candy. We stayed for 5 nights/6 days. We did something off the resort each day then came back to the resort to do the activities and water park. The water park was very nice and had a good mix of things for all ages. The room key is a wrist band which we thought was cool. The room was cute, clean and actually bigger then I expected. Willow which is their digital customer service texts you things to know and you can text Willow for request such as extra towels or questions. I would definitely come back just to do the things at the resort. My kids, husband, parents and myself loved doing the magi quest with my kids as well as bowling and the ropes course.
