Great place to stay
Very comfortable apartments, with reserved secure parking. The staff were great, and very helpful. Lake View is situated right in the heart of St.Lucia, and only five minutes from the nearest game reserve, and only two minutes from the lake dock for boat trips to see the hippo's. horrible receiption by a manager
Prior boarding our flight in Johannesburg i took initiative of calling Lake view Cabanas to inform them that possibly we will be late for check-in. As i usually do with other resorts i visited before. i do this in order if the reception area is closing so that they can tell me if there are arrangements made for us seen that were still going to drive for at least 3 hours. my call received by a person i identified herself as Marie Stubbe whom her reception was very rude and hostile. My holiday was ruined right at that moment. to cut the story short i called because we managed to get a flight late than we had planned because myself and my wife we work for an airline, meaning that we always on standby subject to seats availability. i made her aware that we might be late due to the above mentioned reason. she immediately told that the reception area closes at 10 PM, precisely was the reason i was making a call to notify them. I asked her if there is no other alternative to ensure i get assisted on my arrival should we delayed further. i made some examples with other resorts i have visited before on how they have accommodated us. she responded by saying that we are not other resorts, before i get accommodation i have present all necessary form identification and fill in the forms as a procedure. by all due respect i know that and i have visited a lot of resorts before. our conversation was turning to an argument and at that point i was so so angry because it felt that MARIE was doing us a favor due to her attitude and hostile reception i am receiving from her. i further asked her what should we do then as i am making you aware that we might be late. She responded by saying when we land in Durban we must call the same number her staff will try and assist. Through my mind at that particular moment i was not sure to go ahead with this holiday because i was uncertain that we will get accommodated should we arrive late than 10 PM. i told my wife after terminating this call and i was so angry. We had to make a decision to board the flight or not seen that Marie instilled doubt in my mind by her rudeness. What made to go-ahead with and board the flight was that my wife said if we found the place closed we will have find overnight accommodation somewhere else. On our arrival i called again my call was received by a pleasant lady called Nelisiwe, immediately voiced my frustration about what happened earlier. She immediately put all my fears to rest and assured me that they will be waiting for us and i should not rush to get here. She apologized on behalf of here manager after i narrated the story to her. i felt so relieved and i was looking forward to get to my destination. i also did not want to disappoint my kids as they were looking forward to this holiday. Nelisiwe is my true champion. On my arrival at around about 21:25 PM, Nelisiwe took me through check process and other formalities and explained that there was nothing wrong i did and stated that they appreciate that as guests we should call if we know that we will be late. She assured me that even if i was going to arrive in the wee hour of the morning i would have been accommodated. if it was not Nelisiwe this vacation would have been doomed, other staff made our stay pleasant some i forgot their names including Sonja when we check out. i would love to visit again it was worth it except the incident with Marie. She needs to work on her interpersonal skills in working with customers. should value each and every guest visiting your lodge regardless of colour or race or creed without guests there is no lodge and work for everyone. My apology for this long story, normally i do not like complaint but i felt i would not be doing justice for other employees who are doing exceptional job. Nice location, decent place to stay
The hotel was right in the heart of St. Lucia, although there's not much to the town. The staff was helpful and friendly. The room was clean, although the carpet is ready for a replace. The only complaint was that the wifi wasn't working...it would connect, but no internet. We arrived late, and left early, so not really a big deal, and to be fair we didn't give them a chance to fix....just notified them of the problem as we left. Horrible weekend, and nice week (warning for families)
The evening when we arrived (mum, dad and 2 babies), the room next to us had a rave going on. There was a large group, in a single apartment, specifically there for an all night party. They brought their own speakers, sub woofers and booze. There was deafening music, screaming, shouting, profanity and fighting. Staff did not want to stop them and we had nowhere else to go. So we barricaded the kids into the opposite end of our apartment, put up mattresses and blankets to block the noise but nothing could stop the massive speakers. The babies could NOT sleep all night, so we stayed up with them to keep them company and keep them safe. We planned to find another hotel in the morning, but found out from reception that the party group were checking out that day. They raved the whole of Sunday morning and then as planned checked out. Since we'd already paid for the week, and since we were exhausted from the long journey to St Lucia followed by the sleepless night, we took a gamble and stayed. It took a while to deal with the interrupted sleep patterns, but after a few days things got better and it was a nice holiday. St Lucia is a beautiful and peaceful place in general, great nature, and Lake View has decent facilities & location. The staff at the hotel were excellent overall, but were unable to deal with the rave. The manager should have been on site in a flash and either cut the party of by 10pm, or moved us to another hotel. Nothing was done about unfortunately, and nothing has yet been done to compensate for it. I'd still recommend the place, but families or people that want to sleep, should avoid weekends to be on the safe side. The Beauty of being taken care by the best
The whole Lakeview Cabanas team was friendly and ticked all the boxes of our expectations. It was our first visit and we heard about the place from a friend George Kavul. He said to us you will enjoy the place and you will want to go back again. I didn't agree before I came to St Lucia Lakeview Cabanas but now I full agree. I will be making my return to you guys just because your service to us was awesome. The whole Lakeview Cabanas team was friendly and ticked all the boxes of our expectations.
