Spacious Accommodations with plenty of deck space

This was our first trip to this part of California. The setting is beautiful with all the tall trees. There appears to be plenty of amenities for families, an indoor pool, exercise room,nitbillard area, movie theater area, etc. We did not utilize any of them because we were there on a hiking and nature vacation. The resort is dated because it has been there many years, but we found that our unit was clean, in good condition and very spacious. There are many stairs as the master bedroom is on the first floor, then up some steep stairs is the living room area with a large fireplace and gorgeous views of the nearby trees and golf course. There is a full kitchen and bathroom on this level as well. Up more steep stairs is a loft area with the second bedroom. The staff was very attentive and friendly. Our unit #16, had 3 patio areas with plenty of outdoor space. The Stanislaus Big Tree State Park is only 4 miles away. The Ebberts Pass on Highway 4 offers beatiful views. Stayed for a week as a timeshare week through II. Was told there was no outdoor pool use. Said it was because of covid. Golf course across the street had a pool and the resort guests used to have access to their outdoor pool. No longer. The resort is 40 years old. It needs updating. The decks were squeaking terribly and most of the upstairs squeeked loudly. Our deck had cobwebs all over it. The washer and dryer are in the master bedroom in a closet with no door on it. The living room closet had no door to it. Not sure how this resort is rated so high. I have stayed at many timeshares and this one is not exceptional due to its aged appearance. Stay at Mountain Retreat Resort

Mountain Retreat Resort, located in the Calavera forest is a nice location if you want a hiking/outdoors experience. Nearby is the town of Murphys which where is go for wine tasting and browsing the store front boutiques. The only negative I have is that the kitchen was not well equipped. So if you have favorite utensils or pots/pans for cooking, bring them. You can get by without, but nicer when you have the things you need. I would go back again in the future. First Time visitor

The pool and some other amenities were closed due to COVID. We were there with our son's family which includes a granddaughter almost 3 years old. It was here first experience with snow and she loved it. We did take one day to go down to Yosemite National Park ( about a two hour drive) and would highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't been there before. There were other nature type things to do in the area. The unt was spacious, not so much the bedrooms. But it was a very comfortable living space. We would come back here and to Yosemite again after things open up more.. The pool and some other amenities were closed due to COVID. Mountain Retreat

THE PERSONEL were the best about getting whatever we needed. We travel a lot, my wife and I. And we tend to not judge harshly anyway but we found the staff to be the most helpful ever. You want firewood, two minutes later it's there. Run out of anything, two minutes later it's there. Setting was beautiful. Always a smile and. warmth that helps make an experience great instead of good. (Sleep quality - PTSD - is on me, not them. See below.
